Alcaraz losing early could be a good thing for him physically.

FO still Novaks to lose for the men, and wide open for the ladies

Mens:

Favorite: Alcaraz
other favorites: Rune, Ruud, Novak (off general principle)
dark horse with the right draw: Medvedev. I can see him losing in the 3rd round or making a SF/F run.

Womens:

Favorite: Iga
other favorites: Sabalenka and Rybakina.
dark horse: Ostapenko

I'd take out Ruud and add Sinner. Ruud hasn't been very sharp this year, not even on his favored clay. Sinner's really only lost to top players this year, and on his day he can beat anyone (save Novak, perhaps).

Medvedev is in the 2nd tier with Tsitsipas. They can make a semi-final run, but I can't see either winning it all.

As for the women, Iga/Elena/Aryna is the only three I can see winning. I agree with Penko making a deep run, same with Badosa.

Overall I agree

On the women's side I could see Caroline Garcia making a deep run off the strength of the home crowd

Sakkari crashing out in the first :picard:

Leylah w/ a big first rd win vs Magda Linette, lets see if she can get back in the championship mix :leostare:

Djoker and Carlitos in the same side of the draw ... Djoker looking to cement himself as the King of Kings in this tournament, but Carlitos beating him in the esmis would be huge passing the torch/flat top cutting moment :ohhh:
