If the competition drought lasts as long as we waited for Alcaraz and Sinner to arrive, it isn't hard to envision a world where we look up and Alcaraz has 15+ Slams when he's 25 and over 20 before he turns 30. He's the best player on the Tour and he isn't even in his prime yet.

It's been a couple decades since Fed's insane run of dominance when he reached nine consecutive Slam finals and 18 out of 19. That's still unfathomable, even looking back, but the runway is there for Carlos to do something similar.

If he does accomplish something like that, I do wonder the toll it will take on his body and mind.
It’s funny, a lot of people say he’s prone to mental lapses, which I think is somewhat true on occasions, and plays to the crowd too much, but you look up and he has 7 slams already and is the youngest to complete a career slam lol.

Credit to Alcaraz on the historic win, that's a great record to have under your belt

Djokovic still showed he can win one of the big matches against these two WHEN HE HAS 2 WALKOVERS AND GETS LUCKY but it's too much to ask of him to do it against them back to back at this age, 1st set took an unbelievable level to take it.

Zverev will be kicking himself because that was an opportunity you can't let slip considering he served for the match

You're honestly a weirdo

Only Fededer or Nadal get the asinine benefit of supposedly playing as "aged" players when they were no more than 6 years or 1 year older than their main rival whereas Djokovic who is going up against those two who are respectively 16 and 14 years his junior does not, utterly bizarre.

Djokovic is 38 years old, no shyt he needs some luck at this stage of his career. His decline is evident for anyone with a shred of tennis knowledge, he can still hit incredible highs but it isn't sustainable or consistent anymore like in years gone by which is only natural.

We'll see how Alcaraz and Sinner are at his age and whether they're even remotely the same level of player in their mid thirties let alone almost 40. I highly doubt it.

Just say you are clueless about Tennis pre 2010 and call it a day. No need to go back and forth with a casual who started watching Tennis when Djokovic came on the scene :dead: . You're basically those Lebron fans who think he's the GOAT who never watched Michael Jordan or Kareem Abdul Jabbar

Funny coming from someone who tried to claim Djokovic was a late bloomer and wasn't elite until his mid-twenties

How about you respond to what I'm actually saying rather than your piss poor attempts at deflection?

Fededer and Nadal were both winning the biggest titles in their late twenties the reason WHY the duopoly stopped is Djokovic, if not for him they would have won way more than they were able to, those are facts. Longevity is a key part in anyone's legacy especially an individual sport, not only was Djokovic defeating them in their primes but he also dominated after and nothing you say will change that.

The audacity of you to be trying to criticise anyone's tennis knowledge when you're so clearly lacking is hilarious to read, your feeble attempt to take away from Djokovic's legacy doesn't hold any weight whatsoever.

Federer had to deal with two younger GOATs. That cost him many titles.

Joker dealt with 0 until around 3 years ago.

Just get out a calculator.

Take Fed's open win record per year and extend that by removing the 2 younger GOATs until his major decline.

Or bring sinner + alcaraz effect forward i.e. start 2015 or so. Joker would have won far less.

Djokovic also had to deal with them though? Nadal also. Everyone had to deal with eachother that's the point and even so Djokovic had to beat either Fededer, Nadal or Murray to win his first 11 slam wins.

Why even talk.about extending that by removing Nadal and Djokovic? You're talking about players that were 5 or 6 years younger here, it was in no way a comparable age difference that Djokovic dealt with and despite that Djokovic still has big wins against Alcaraz and Sinner to his name.

And let's keep it a buck this era that Alcaraz and Sinner are currently dominating is one of the very weakest, they aren't racking this many wins in the strongest era nowhere close.

joker has to deal with older players .. which is pound-for-pound "easier". definitely easier than dealing with them when they were younger.

fed had to deal with an imperious nadal before the injuries, on clay, costing him more F/Os than nadal cost joker.

it's obvious. i'm not going to explain it again.

it is not just the age difference. it is the mileage and the individual "physical age". nadal's injuries aged him. fed tailed off physically relatively early.

Djokovic still has big wins against Alcaraz and Sinner to his name.

all of them have wins against each other. of course it is not going to be all one way traffic.

it's not even all one way traffic between the GOATs and non-goats.

So Fededer didn’t deal with lesser competition and older players before Nadal came on the scene? This line of thinking is funny because it seems its always Djokovic that had some kind of advantage on the tennis tour all these year which is utter garbage. They all won big but it should never be discounted that Djokovic dominated in the most difficult and deepest tour to date.

fed had to deal with an imperious nadal before the injuries, on clay, costing him more F/Os than nadal cost joker.
Nadal was imperious throughout the years regardless, he was no less a clay court player than when he was going up agianst Djokovic and the rest of the field for those years. He was still routinely winning the FO with dominating performances, Fededer simply wasn't good enough on clay and his game especially the backhand was a weakness that's on him. Djokovic was clearly the better clay court player.

it's obvious. i'm not going to explain it again.
Whatever, if you remove any of them the other two eat more. It's a moot point.

They ALL have mileage, do you know how many matches Djokovic has played? Nadal's game style resulted in injuries but that's on him and how he approached the sport and despite this he was still able to consistently produce his best tennis especially at his favoured event, you don't get extra points because you wear yourself into the ground with how you play.

Nadal had injuries but always came back strong and Fededer didn't tail off phsycially early, he simply wasn't able to beat those two enough These excuses don't hold up when you consider their rankings, results over that period.

What is DJokovic, some mutant that had the body of a 20 year old for close to 20 years?

Brehs, ya'll think Arthur Fils has a chance to compete with Alcaraz and Sinner?

If that back injury doesn’t derail him, i think it was either him or Fonseca who said they will always have back injuries, then yea he (Fils) can.

Alcaraz
Sinner
Sheldon
Tien
Fils

I’ma keep an eye on young 16 year old from France, Moise Kouame. He plays tomorrow morning

Fonseca to me doesn't look like he will be the guy, his movement and athleticism isn't good enough.

If the injury doesn't hold him back Fils looks to have the most potential as he has the all round game including movement.

Shelton will never be the guy IMO, backhand is a weak shot and his forehand is erratic also. Just don't see him ever getting to that level. His ceiling is capped in my view

I like Tien has a high IQ but he may ultimately be too small to be on that level. A promising talent though.
