I am sometimes embarrassed to say i'm from Toronto.
I don't think there are any original people left in the city. Everyone is a carbon copy of another. Same clothes, hairstyles, lifestyles. I have yet to meet anyone that is refreshingly different.
now they have a cringeworthy version of love and hip-hop comin out, which i hope to god no channel picks up. Shyt is just

Not sure about hotel prices, I've never stayed in a Montreal hotel.
I'd go with St.Leonard, they a few metro stations that aren't too far away(Langelier, Cadillac, and Saint-Michel)
The metro doesn't run to Pointe Claire. Brossard is an off island suburb and you'll be paying a higher transit fare than in the city, you can always drive across the Champlain Bridge to downtown, but stay away from that bridge during rush hour.
What a coincidence you mentioned those two places. I live in Pointe-Claire now and grew up in Brossard.

Really just hit up downtown (Catherine St, Rene Levesque ) and old Montreal. If ure up for it, u can rent some bixie bikes and stroll through the old city by the water

The boardwalk in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is very underrated, alot of nice restaurants over there. You'll need to drive there though, it's all the way at the Western tip of the Island. The Fairview mall in Pointe Claire(not far from your hotel) is great for shopping.
There's also the Botanical gardens in the East End which is cool.

Go to La Banquise, they have the best poutine in Montreal IMO and they are known for it
Peep Rue St Catherine and just roam up and down the street.. off St Catherine.. the name of the street is escaping me is near to the club/bar district and you and ya lady can check around there. It's a walkable city when you're in the downtown core and the city has it's own charm to it.. much different than Toronto. You almost feel like you're in a European city but in Canada.. it's real cool.
Check out Old Montreal at night and walk along the water. Also peep Mount Royal, The Plateu area and Mile End (kind of like Queen St West of montreal) and it's real cool around there. A lot of coffee shops, cafes with amazing croissants and little thrift shops and book and record stores if you and ya lady is into that kind of stuff.
