I feel solidarity with Syrians a) because the xenophobia and anti-refugee rhetoric they are experiencing is something inherently relatable to any and all refugee populations, including the Africans that take up a majority of your streets, Emperor. Don't for a second forget how most of us got here. Somali's represent the highest African population in all of Canada, and 20 years ago we were entering as refugees when half our people were being murdered. That narrative isn't exclusive to us nor Syria, and the anti-refugee rhetoric isn't exclusive to Syrians right now -- it's the message that racialized bodies/lives aren't nearly as meaningful as Euro-White ones.

There is actually existing scholarship proving the correlation between positive economic and educational impact with new refugee populations -- they actually BENEFIT the state more than they harm it. Especially in European countries, refugees have been proven to pay more via taxes + social contributions than they receive.

because the nikka () is clearly unaware of the myriad of ways in which the Harper government has ensured any existing funding/benefits for refugees has been re-directed elsewhere (by cutting $10 million for health and settlement programs, plus dental and drug benefits for refugees during his terms). These nikkas aren't getting shyt when they come here. There's also studies proving the consistency of refugees being less likely to utilize social services and more likely to be employed than the average Canadian.Miss me with your uninformed politically expedient bullshyt
