Looking at the electoral math, I can't see Downtown Toronto turning out for O'Leary. Quebec too. The Maritimes will likely remain Liberal.

So at best, we're looking at a Liberal minority gov't even if O'Leary runs a decent campaign at this point. Barring a massive Liberals scandal.

O'Leary isnt even a lock for CPC nomination.

But if he does win it'll be a dream come true for LPC. The election is two years away and they Liberals are still polling well ahead of both opposition parties. Also dont see the fake Trump act paying off in provinces that are a must for CPC win (Ontario and BC). His lack of French will also kill his QC chances. He may be popular in Alberta depending on how global oil prices swing in the next two years, but thats always been a foregone conclusion.

The CPC *has* to win some seats in the 905 for a path to victory. Reality is a shrewd and cautious political actor like Harper was, was a much better fit for them electorally than any of current candidates. Michael Chang is a serious candidate but the party seems to have abandoned all seriousness, to fulfill their Trump fantasies. Itll kill them.

The CPC *has* to win some seats in the 905 for a path to victory. Reality is a shrewd and cautious political actor like Harper was, was a much better fit for them electorally than any of current candidates. Michael Chang is a serious candidate but the party seems to have abandoned all seriousness, to fulfill their Trump fantasies. Itll kill them.

The party lost many of its Progressive Conservative members over the Harper years. It really became Reform Party-lite during Harper's last tenure of office. Michael Chong is a lurch back to Progressive Conservatism which sits well with Ontarians, but you know - the global trend for conservative parties worldwide is fascism.

How would he best Trudeau? There's a lot of seats in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes the Conservatives would have to peel off to make that happen. He's not the man to do it. Chong/Bernier is - although Bernier ideas would cause dairy farmers to flood Parliament with milk.

Woman dont vote as one single cohesive bloc. He's so far remained careful not to air any socially conservative/racist views but I dont see his blowhard style selling well. They like the Trump brand right now, but it'll be a toxic comparison in 2 years.

Exactly. Time is on Trudeau's side. If Trump tries to squeeze Canadian manufacturers and energy producers - Trudeau will rally the nation together. Conservatives like Leitch may look like foolish traitors.

Dont they realize Canada stands to lose big, if he gets his way ? Yet again the bedrock of modern Conservatism proves to be knee-jerk hate.
