Eh, where did you come from?

I didn't go last year but I'm attending a few fetes that should be good. Machel and Bunji Garlin recently confirmed for OVO fest on Caribana Saturday. Tickets are around $100 so that's too rich for me.

I saw Machel perform last year in Jamaica and the year before in Trinidad (several times). I'm good.

Oh ok. I don't really follow him like that so I didn't really know. Also I try not to do any events with American celebs because they tend to play hiphop and I only want to hear soca that weekend.

My fav part of Caribana is white flight from the city core

I remember growing up in the city and being around cacs in school and at work and they would always be conveniently away on Caribana

one of the biggest cottage getaway weekends.

Yup. They go out of their way to mention they're fleeing the city that long weekend

Seems like there's less Americans driving down than before though. A lotta Raptors always around though

I actually just realized I that I mentioned two parties that I'm not even going to.

I'm going to Carnival Kingdom on Saturday and Big People Fete on Sunday. Still working out what I want to do Friday since I only want to do a day fete (since I'm playing mas on Saturday).

Problem with Caribana is how tightly controlled it is now. 20 years ago they would wild out but with the new corporate sponsors and the split(read up on it, nasty stuff) it's not as fun.

Haven't been in 6,7 years. Trash. Used to love the weekend...but it's just wack now. Probably has something to do with getting older too. So much over-policing and from racist non-blacks.
