Syrian refugee families struggle amid delays in benefits | Toronto Star
Bedrettin El-Muhammed didn’t worry about signing a $1,735 monthly lease for a three-bedroom apartment in March, even though his family of seven would be receiving an allowance of just $1,600 a month as government-assisted Syrian refugees.
That is because his five children, ages 13, 11, 9, 7 and 5, were eligible for about $2,000 a month in federal and provincial child benefits.
Thank you Justin Trudeau
Getting almost 4,000 a month tax free
Good for them. Let them live.
enjoy your tax paying dollars not going to you but to 26,000 syrians
I have no problem at all going to something that can help people.
Instead, they should release a significant portion of prisoners. It cost 117,000 a year to jail a federal prisoner. I'm not naive to think everyone should be out of jail, but for things such as drugs where you're giving 2 plus a day and less, give them a conditional sentence at home. Close to a quarter mill you saved on ONE person. And that's just the penitentiaries.
Provincial I don't recall the number but it's atleast 80-90 grand from what I recall. 55% of people in those detention centres have never been convicted of anything.
Again, I'm not naive to say let an alleged murderer out on bail on his own recognizance, but for assaults, drugs, etc... things where people don't have the means for people to put up money or whatever, let them out on their own recognizance.
You can figure out how much money is saved there
