Give us your secrets, I've been trying to get a job as a project coordinator/manager down there and I have no luck!There are a decent amount of black professionals in the financial district where i work.
Mostly finance/banking types, i know some brehs who rose up to some good posts.
But that is the exception to the rule. We are surrounded by nothing but mediocre white males who basically sleep walk their way to higher positions for simply being Jim, John, Scott.
I'm cracking 200k this year (no bragging since the govt is taking 51% of it back) and grinded to get where I'm at. That is the underlying point which is you can't take shortcuts in this shyt. Take advantage of the system and finesse it to progress in your adult years. It increases your life expectancy dramatically, and you can live to see the fruits of your labor.
I have so much more to say, just my 2 cents.

Professional services sales breh all corporate and just moved up the ladder took a paycut when I took this job and rolled the dice. My commission cheques are healthy thank Allah for that, 6 years later I'm in a relatively good spot. But like I said this city and the lifestyle it costs a ton. So it's never enough gotta keep pushing.
You need to network at professional meet and greets, social events, etc the game is relationships and with them comes access to the hidden job market. Most of the quality jobs are filled without a single posting being sent out.
Can't shadowbox in the dark gotta get outta your comfort zone and talk to any and everyone that you think could and would help you either directly or indirectly.
Sorry for the rant hope it made sense.
