its funny because not many nikkas from toronto embrace our slang in their music yet in london, which is heavily caribbean populated, they've embraced that culture in their music for years. Thats why you'll hear nikkas like JME or Skepta incorporate "man dem" or "Tings" in they raps.

that would make sense because of our location but nah thats BS.

what it really boils down to is disapora population, which Toronto has a large percentage of Caribbean influence because of the diaspora tha resides in the city.

London's population is over 8 mill and so is New York, so theeres a higher chance of minority populations in these cities, which in turn helps the influence of the music. In Toronto however, is 5.9 mill but the problem is a large portion of this population, whom are minorities, reside in outer areas of the GTA, areas like Brampton (brown population), Mississauga (Brown/African), Etobicoke (Caribbean/African).

this country has always been trying to find their cultural identity whether its through the film industry or music. Its the same reason why organizations like the CRTC have guidelines in place to ensure we dont "Americanize" this country to the point of complete cultural absorbtion
