I think invoking the Emergencies Act is a huge overreaction at this stage. The vast majority of Ottawa is largely operating like normal. These guys have overstayed and are annoying people who live in their vicinity, but there is no violence, no weapons, no deaths or injuries. I dont think its a good precedent for the future.

Its not business as usual, but its also not a total siege of the city as some people would think watching the news. Kent and Wellington are basically ghost towns after the pandemic, with 95 percent of government and Parliament staffers working from home.

I drove all the way down Laurier from Bronson up to King Edward with no obstructions on Friday. Never mind the West, South, East end and the suburbs of the city where no one has been impacted at all,

Funny thing is I spoke to Arab guy at Shawarma spot downtown and he told me the protests making him the most money in two years :dead:

I bet more money was lost in January alone with the restrictions on indoor dining/gyms, loss of hotel bookings etc. Ontario lost 100k jobs last month because of the restrictions.

I just dont buy the framing that these guys are extremely dangerous. Goofy for sure and police inaction is making the scenes more ridiculous. But dangerous and violent? These guys were turned around by a bunch of retirees and hipsters from the Glebe with no physical confrontation yesterday :heh:

In the 70s when the FLQ was actually bodying people, including diplomats, the NDP still opposed the use of the War Measures Act because they thought it was overkill to deal with a policing/security issue.

Fast forward now and we got Jagmeet basically agreeing to whatever federal Liberals propose. What is the point of the NDP?

This is why Trudeau might have to use force. These guys are setting up shop. Let's say there was a shooting and a few cops/RCMP officers got killed. The RCMP in turn would go head hunting in Ottawa, and the stupid fukks who brought their kids would probably be the ones to get hurt. The longer this goes on, the closer we are going to get to actual violence. This is what the organizers want. They want to be martyred. This is an attempt at a coup de tat, when we just had an election 5 months ago. The police won't do shyt until one of them gets murdered. Then it will rain blood in the streets, and again people will blame Justin...
