The Wii U could possibly be the perfect all-round system:
- can play it as a serious gamer (assuming more third party devs are on board)
- can play it with ur girl
- can play it with or give it to ur kids.
- can play it in a party setting with casual gamers like the Wii
Not many systems can brag about doing all these things at once....
might have to cop this eventually.
1.) You can't play it as a serious gamer because serious gamers haven't warmed up to or even had a reason to warm up to it yet
2.) Girls love Dance Central more than

3.) Kids is a mixed bag. Depends on the age. Age 3-8, sure.
9 and up, they want an xbox. My kids are now getting to that 9 and up cat. But I will still get the wii u cuz my sonfew is a huge Lego universe fan (games) plus they grew to enjoy the wii since a new game would show up in the harddrive every few days
4.) Can play it in a party setting
Yeah, maybe if there is a pinata there? No gaming is "cool" at a party except for.... Kinect of course. And only if it was setup right
I once had a Rockband party for my oldest daughter, we had the stage kit.. fogged up the living room

its funny that you talk about the same games when what iteration of Call of Duty are on? 2, 3, 4, mw2, bo1, mw3, bo2? in one console generation. what iteration of Gears of War? what iteration of Halo? most of the games that people anticipate on Microsoft and Sony consoles are either ideas stolen fron Nintendo or annual / semi-annual rehashes of the same games they've been playing for years.
First off, all those games you named outside of Halo are ALSO on the Wii/Wii-u

Its all about 3rd party support, and guess what system has the MOST 3rd party support?

The idea of the wii was great, but the execution was horrid
