They have brand new stadiums from the World Cup that are not being used.

The olympics and World Cup are financial disasters.

All the sponsors extract money, pay no taxes and the countries are left in ruins.

Russia isn't broke and even they got fukked over in Sochi.

Depends where it's held. If you have to build a bunch of new stadiums and don't have the domestic league to play in those stadiums after the event yeah it's a huge financial disaster. The USA/England/Germany/France and a couple other countries could get a call that they are hosting the world cup and in a few months would be able to pull it off.

WC in Brazil was a financial disaster because they built new stadiums that are now nothing more then parking lots, wedding venues, and a place for the homeless to squat in.
