It will be fine, I was there for the World Cup where people were saying the same thing. A lot of it is media created hype. Plus this is just contained to one city, security will be everywhere. The WC was all over the country and there wasn't one incident, in fact, many call it one of, if not the best WC ever.

I don't think crime is even close to the biggest problem. It's the massive amount of money being spent with country with a 21% poverty rate. And that's with a crazy low poverty line. They already broke the bank for the World Cup with little to show for it in terms of economic growth.
