You're conflating Gunplay/gameplay with the specifics of good TPS combat design. I'm not saying the combat design and scenarios are top tier in the Order, we're saying the actual movement, cover, shooting, hit reactions from enemies etc are great in The Order compared to other games. Shooting someone with the double barrell shotgun feels great as you can often blow a persons arm off or leg off in one fell swoop. The Order has people clamoring for a MP mode... why?? Because the actual gunplay would be great against other players we assume. The actual level design and scenarios in the order are what is uninspired.

We draw the comparisons to Uncharted 1 by saying The Order is similar to UC1 in that it could be the first game where it has a few things that can be fixed and upgraded to which the sequel can be like UC2 was to UC1. Either way, what was scored almost 10 years ago is irrelevant to today. Standards changed. If a game like The Order came out 7 years ago, I'm sure it'd be heralded as a classic.
Don't know about classic but it definitely would have reviewed better, just as Uncharted would be reviewed worse and that's the point. This is gameplay that was innovated and perfected almost a decade ago and this game can't even match that let alone improve upon it.
I called it serviceable. I didn't say it was great or excelled at gameplay. It has faults. The whole game does and I've listed my issues with it previously. I think it's an insult to The Order to have it be compared to Ryse.
I beat The Order in a day and a half and enjoyed it. I've played Ryse for a couple hours and it's in serious danger of me never even touching it again due to it's gameplay. It hasn't been an enjoyable experience overall.

The actual movement, stabbing, and hit reactions in the Ryse are great in Ryse. Its all the shyt its missing that makes it shallow/boring. Completing a visceral execution in ryse feels great.
Ryse has people PLAYING the MP mode....why? Because the gameplay is enjoyable. The actual design and scenarios in ryse is what's unispired.
Nah, I don't think UC would be reviewed worse because the strengths of UC1 would still keep it entertaining.
UC1 had actual great writing, decent story, serviceable gameplay, decent length and collectibles as well as way more gameplay. There were already better TPS games at the time when UC1 came out such as Gears of War 1 so that doesn't mean anything.

And that's your opinion about each game. Some people wouldn't play Fallout past a couple hours.
In 2015 UC1 wouldn't be sitting at 86. And that's only because games like uc2-3 and tomb raider came after it and raised the bar.
If uc1 is considered the worst of these types of games and the order is worse than that 10 years later then that's not a good look at all. 65 is more than fair.

The stiff hit reactions and the movement is clunky in Ryse. It's actually similar to something like Assassins Creed from that comparison point only. The only thing in Ryse that "looks" decent is some of the animations when you're doing the QTE's but that's it. The nicest looking part is slowed down QTE's of which you just press a button to see something. In The Order, shooting someone's limbs off or catching a headshot is all of your own doing.
Gears of War 1 came out a year before and was seen as the better game as it had co-op and MP on top of very solid shooting mechanics. Uncharted didn't get actual smooth shooting mechanics until UC2. You still don't get our point.
We're not saying The Order is straight up pound for pound like UC1, we just say that we see The Order as RAD's "uncharted 1" in that the sequel can improve greatly. The sequel to UC1 was amazing and MUCH better than what most people thought. A sequel for The Order adding in MP, and longer campaign with more replayability as well as better designed combat scenarios and encounters would make it the UC2 for RAD.

One thing about the Order i hate is that the story is not explained and that's cause of the narrative in the game. The dialogue isn't as strong as any of the UC games, and the characters feel like they are just there. I want to give a crap about Galahad, and i just got to the blimp and i'm still waiting as to why i should give a fukk.
The gameplay isn't too much of a problem, it's a shooter and i know i'm supposed to shoot my way out. The graphics also haven't impressed me too much. But maybe cause i'm playing on a 24" monitor.
I just hate that the gameplay pace is very slow, especially when you have to walk slowly on some parts of the game. it's irritating cause i want him to run but he doesn't.
Wait until you're done to find your thoughts on the characters. It's way too early to guage character depth.

The difference between Ryse and The Order is Ryse has more gameplay the gameplay is just trash.
There's nothing really wrong with the gameplay in The Order. The gunplay is satisfying some of the weapons are nice. It just doesn't have a lot of gameplay in it. It also doesn't do anything new of different.
With Ryse the actual gameplay of it puts me off to the game itself. constantly fighting the same 3-4 character models pressing the same buttons over and over again. The big burly looking guy who's a little chunky and you have to break his guard. I've fought like three or four of them at the same time simultaneously. There's no real depth to the combat system either. You're just dispatching these fools over and over again repetitively until you run through the level. I'm talking about this guy
At least with The Order in the same vein as Uncharted the gameplay was serviceable enough to not ruin my enjoyment of the product. The Order is the kinda game I don't mind playing. With Ryse I'd rather just watch somebody else play it on Youtube.
Ryse was a launch game. The order is 2 years in the PS4 lifecycle. Try again.
