@Ciggavelli worth it to go from a i5 2500k to i5 6600k? .. doing this tho would mean a new motherboard. I can get a motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 LGA 1150 ATX Intel Motherboard) with the i5 6600k for about $320 after rebates. is that a good deal?

i will be keeping my current radeon r7 series graphics card.
I don't really know much about i5s (I've always gotten i7s), but CPU tech hasn't really improved drastically in the last few years, so I'd say @daze23 is probably right. Most games are GPU heavy anyway, so getting a better GPU might be the way to go

2500k still has legs if you overclock

ya my 2500k runs great and it is overclocked to its maximum at 4500. it runs awesome, but i want to run hackintosh but my mobo (asus z68 v3-gen3) is not compatible.

i don't really game on mine tbh, and my graphics card is on the lower end. it is a radeon r7 2xx series.

I just want to run mac on mine without having to buy an imac. lol.

if you need it for the hackintosh, go for it. $320 is a good deal, but remember you'll also need some new memory (DDR4)

I built a hackintosh a few years ago. Make sure your mobo is compatible. Also finding the drivers is a big pain in the ass. Hopefully it's easier now, but when I did it's few years back, finding the right drivers too forever (I know Macs don't call them drivers, but I can't remember what they're called right now, but I'm sure you know what I mean). It was kinda a hassle, but a fun project in the end. When you finally have all the drivers and everything is working great, it's :blessed:

GMG has their encore summer sale right now. I have all the games I want, but if you're library is lacking, this might be a good sale for you :ehh:

Encore

I just spent like $100 on VR games that are on sale.

I have almost every VR game that has been released (on the OR and VIVE) :skip:

My new apartment will be VR ready in the living room. I'm gonna mount the sensors finally (instead of putting them on boxes :skip:) :blessed:

Maybe you guys can help me out. I been interested in building my own computer. Haven't had one in a few years. I want to get into them again and maybe learn some coding or programming after. Something to better myself. I just want to start with building one. I'll get the pieces as I'm able. I just want to know if you guys know of any good sites to help me out? I thought there was a thread but the search function isn't fully working. I've been out of the loop lately but I'm sure I can figure it out. And it'll be a good project for me to partake in. Looking to build a gaming/media computer so I'd likely buy the video card near the end to get the latest ones. Any help will be appreciated. Anyone that had built their own, feel free to drop some general advice.
Amazon is always a good source, trend micro center if you have one nearby. What I have noticed is you don't need the latest and greatest video card if you just use it for media and unless you have to play on max resolution you don't need to spend too much on that either. A 2gb card should be enough

All I gotta say is: fukk Texas. Downtown Houston is alright, but the rest of the state is full of redneck, ultra conservative a$$holes (minus Austin). Here's hoping the DC area is better

And I have the option for Verizon FIOS where I'll live. :blessed:

Comcast
:pacspit:

The grass isn't always greener bruh. Verizon ain't much different from Comcast as far as the Internet goes. Their customer service is :mindblown: tho. I always have problems with Verizon routers unless you are going to hardwire everything their shyt is garbage for wireless

Nah, with a 960 at 1080p, you're looking at medium I'd say. I'd return the 960 and get a 1060 instead. That would get you closer. I don't know much about fallout 4 mods, but @duckbutta does. He put a list of the good mods in the official Fallout 4 thread a few days ago.
