Have a question for yal...

I just peeped the PS4 thread and just read that the PS4's graphics card will be the equivalent of the 7850. I have that in my PC now. I'm assuming that 2 of those cards crossfired will outperform next-gen consoles for the foreseeable future right?

the hardware in the consoles won't change, so if you crossfire with another 7850 then you will outperform next this next gen of consoles forever.

upgrade your pc when you need/want to. don't chase consoles that aren't even out yet

wait until you're not happy with your performance. chances are whatever upgrade will be cheaper the longer you wait

I now see why Microsoft and SONY went with AMD for next gen. I just played Max Payne 3 @ damn near max settings @ 1080P with an A10-5800K STOCK on my friends PC. NOTHING on the Intel side is going to top that @ $130...sorry @2gunsup I am interested in seeing what Intel responds with because @ that price point? sheeeeit I told him to couple it with a high end nVidia card and there will be no limits for years. First APU I ever got on...I should have researched this sooner.

I am about to throw a build to help those who want to join the master race for cheap :wow2:

Well it did help that AMD was the only company that could offer that kind of CPU/GPU under one package in addition to whoring themselves out. Those APU's are definitely a great deal, especially with the Sim City bundle. I won't even get into your claim of near max settings, :russ: Apparently everyone has their own definition of what that is. Nor will I on your advise of coupling it with a high end nvidia gpu when there a certain amd ones that can CFX with the APU. :rudy:

the problem is it's heavily dependant on one core. it does use more than one core, but it tries to do too much with the first core. so the best way to increase performance is extreme overclocking, since the per-core performance is more important than how many cores you have

it has been getting better through the alpha. I guess they're slowly dumping stuff on other cores

they finally added legit sniper rifles and scopes in the latest dev build

Feel like I wasted dough on this game, copped a mic and everything and barely play it......... hate the fact that I can't run and gun....all u can essentially do is lay prone and just wait til someone walks past u and kill them

Realism doesn't always translate into fun.

Got to say, SLI capable FM2 boards are pretty rare. Think I've only seen one from MSI. Honestly I wouldn't ever bother using a discrete card with an APU. For that you are better off getting a FX chip + GPU. I do understand though if they first use the APU initially and want to upgrade later on down the line.

:wtf: I bought a 7870 earlier this morning and I replaced my old gtx 550 ti with it but after I did that the computer wouldn't POST. I checked RAM, pci-e gfx card connectors, cmos battery, usb devices and nothing. I put the old gtx 550 ti in and it doesn't post either. No beeps or anything with either card. Fans and hard drive spin so idk. Last thing I did with the computer was shut it down the night before. I'm hoping it's not a shorted mobo because I really don't feel like having to buy a new mobo already.
What kind of 7870 do u have?..reg?..Ghz edition?..Ghz edition OC or 7870 XT version?

It wasnt about ur issue I just wanted to know ur card..lol..how is it doing for u?

It's amazing to me. Runs every game i throw at it on high/ultra settings, 60fps with sweetfx at 1080p/1440P. Only resource hungry setting on most games is obviously 2xMSAA or SSAA. I usually find SMAA(from sweetfx) + in game FXAA adequate enough for me. I'll hold onto to this and upgrade to something better using my warranty later in the year probably or next year to keep ahead of with console ports. I'm allergic to 30fps now

What you got right now?? Oh and the 7870 is BIG. Like it's a bit extra long but it fits in my case thankfully. I have a microatx mobo in a ATX form factor case but if you using a microatx case it may not fit.
