it could be overheating. do you monitor your temps?
yeah my temps are fine. it can be on all day and be fine and I'm also watching blu-rays and shyt on it so it isn't my GPU. But when I start playing a game within minutes my computer just turns off and restarts

my resting temp of my processor and gpu is 31c for the processor and 41c for the GPU. Last time I tried to play a game the GPU got up to 46c and the computer turned off. I don't think its a temperature issue. Especially when I can watch Blu-ray movies and it doesn't turn off. But maybe that is a high temp and I'm just not aware of it?

well leaving it on all day and watching blu-rays ain't shyt compared to playing games. but yeah, it's not gonna be your gpu. that wouldn't shut your system down

what are your cpu temps like when gaming? do you clean your cpu's heat-sink regularly?

last time I checked before it turned off my GPU was at 46c when my computer restarted itself. It did this within 10 seconds of starting the game.

that was a serious question. it's important to keep your heat-sink dust free. especially if you smoke around your machine. my shyt gets dusty quick, and I see a definite drop in temp when I clean it

if your cpu (not your gpu) gets too hot, it will shut your system down. but "too hot" is usually around 100c

but if it happens that quick, it does sound like a psu issue. it's hard to pin down if you don't have another working psu laying around to test. what kind of psu do you have?

I barely clean my ass, so cleaning my computer regularly is out of the question. My pops has some thing that tests if a power supply is working so I'm gonna try that.

brehs my computer is restarting when I play video games only yall think its my power supply?

man, i told you in the other thread that it's your power supply. i'm 99% sure that the fan is not working. turn on your pc and just look at the power supply's fan...i bet that shyt aint spinning.

i had the same exact problem about 6 years ago. my pc would shut off after 2 minutes of gaming. i put my hand over the power supply and i could have fried an egg on it, then i noticed that the fan was not moving.

Yup it's the power supply. Mine was doing the exact same thing for 1 year straight. cop a high quality supply with a true wattage rating of at least 800wt to help mitigate this problem

unless he has more than one video card, I doubt he needs 800w. it's more important to have high ampage on the 12v rail(s)

but yeah, get a good brand. I recommend Antec or Corsair

would it be benefical to cop a new graphics card my current build I have is a

intel q2.4
4gbs ram
gt260
450 w power supply

Would it be benefical for me to cop a 550 ti to replace my current card and still be able to play games @ 720p? Or would it be best to just build another pc? Plus I already know im going to need another power supply so that's the only reason im considering building another pc
