would it be benefical to cop a new graphics card my current build I have is a

intel q2.4
4gbs ram
gt260
450 w power supply

Would it be benefical for me to cop a 550 ti to replace my current card and still be able to play games @ 720p? Or would it be best to just build another pc? Plus I already know im going to need another power supply so that's the only reason im considering building another pc

you'd probably be better off with the new gtx 650. they're pretty cheap

Newegg.com - EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P4-2652-KR GeForce GTX 650 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

I would get a little more cash together and get a gtx 660 (the 650 and 550ti aren't that much better than a gtx 260)

Newegg.com - EVGA SuperClocked 02G-P4-2662-KR GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

edit: you might not need a new psu since those newer cards are way more efficient than a gtx 260. they recommend a psu with 38 amps on the 12v for the gtx 260. they only recommend 24 amps for the gtx 660

man, i told you in the other thread that it's your power supply. i'm 99% sure that the fan is not working. turn on your pc and just look at the power supply's fan...i bet that shyt aint spinning.

i had the same exact problem about 6 years ago. my pc would shut off after 2 minutes of gaming. i put my hand over the power supply and i could have fried an egg on it, then i noticed that the fan was not moving.
I put my hand back there and it was cool and i could feel plenty of airflow :yeshrug:

the 590 is a dual gpu, like the 690

the crazy thing is the 660 almost outperforms the 580 (the 660ti does), and the 580 is still $400-500

that graph comes from geforce

they way card makers name their products has always confused me.
when i first got into PC gaming i just assumed that any 3 series card would be better than any 2 series card...but it's not so.

each series has several tiers and a card from a newer series can be outperformed by an older card....you gotta do your research before you buy.

yep, you gotta look for the most bang for your buck. and don't assume the older cards will be a better deal. the other thing to consider is how much more efficient the newer cards are (less power, less heat, less noise)

what the fukk is that abomination?

it's a laptop with an external graphics card (and psu)
