Starting a beast - I am tempted to build this thing myself just to prove a point. You don't need to drop $1,000 to start gaming on the PC on Day 1. This right here is a solid foundation to build on AND be able to game on Day 1 for just under $500.

A couple of things to consider before your criticisms - You can get it even lower if you don't care about SLI/Crossfire, but its about trying to future proof a bit.

CPU - Yeah, Yeah its a celeron, but its IVY Bridge which will satisfy all games on the market currently. You can upgrade to an i5 or i7 in the future...cheaper and still be able to play everything on the market on Day 1. Take a look at the system requirements for all the games and you will be fine for 99% of them. The only possible issue I see at the moment is Crysis 3, but the system requirements say it only requires a dual core. You will be fine here for at least another 18 months.

Moherboard - has TWO PCIE 3.0 slots AND a 2.0 slot which will allow you to crossfire OR SLI 3 cards if you want to in the future. SATA III and USB 3.0...great deal

Case - Whatever, its a damn case

PSU - A 750W quality PSU will cover this setup, but again its about trying to give you some more headroom in the future.

8GB RAM - More than enough to play anything else right now. Just buy 8GB sticks tho...don't be wastful.

500GB Hard Drive - Small compared to what some of us are running, but should be enough to hold most if not all your library at the same time.

Video Card - Sell BioShock Infinite and Tomb Raider. Then possibly apply whatever you get back towards another 7850...Crossfire the 7850s, overclock them and enjoy everything @ damn near max levels @ 1080P

Windows 8 - @2gunsup

So if you do buy another 7850 and sell those vouchers again along with a small SSD for the OS install you have a complete NO COMPROMISE PC for about $650 right now. That is only about $50 more than these new consoles about to drop after tax and a game you cop @ launch.

CPU will have to be upgraded probably by mid 2014 - by then a sub $100 upgrade will keep you alright (Sell the Celeron for $20 lol)
Video Cards should be enough until late 2015 or early 2016 (Sell both cards for $50-$80 to apply to the new card). Find a similar deal by AMD/NVIDIA @ that time and now you are looking at possibly getting a SLI/Crossfire combo @ that time for only $120 or so.

What you need to do is stop doing is worrying about hardware costs and focus on all the savings you will have on software. Getting newly released games sometimes @ $25 off and shyt :whew:

:win: my brehs...you have made the right choice. It's really not that expensive once you learn this game.

@Liquid :salute: I can also get Win 7, MS Office 2010, 2013, pretty much all MS software.

@daze23 What's the best way to go about installing DayZ? I used the playwithsix option and shyt is a mess. Should I just install it manually?

I think DayZ Commander has the best support now

Home › DayZ Commander

it will get you the latest beta patch for Arma 2 and the latest version of DayZ. I would just start with that, but you'll see there's also a bunch of other maps and mods of the mod

edit: I would also go through the first 'bootcamp' mission in Arma 2 if you've never played that game
