I don't think it's my pump because it starts off blasting at full blast when the system starts up and then goes back down to normal after a few seconds (this is normal for the h80i). If it was a full blast it would be loud as shyt. That's a different sound than what I'm hearing.

Oh, and the pump won't show in corsair link in 8.1 for some reason, so it's gotta be something else

some quick googling says it probably is the chipset fan. some cat's boards have that shyt spinning at 9000 rpm

I'm a little lost, so it is that little fan on my mobo?

If so, people have been saying bad things about the chipset fan on the asus sabertooth x79 mobos

yeah i think so
fukk...I gotta go back to frys tomorrow and get a new fan or mobo (probably mobo because you can't just buy these little fans). I read about these issues too. People saying this was happening after a month or so. Just my fukking luck. Thanks

no doubt. personally I would avoid any mobos with built-on chipset fans. those fukkers are noisy and dont do a lick of nothing. i rather place a 120/140 fan blowing straight at my chipset if i cared that much about it.

Yeah, the asus sabertooth x79 was the best option for mobos at the time for my chipset (and asus is loving these little chipset fans as of late). It's too late now to return it or I'd change that shyt up. I probably don't even need that fan in there. I'm furious again :to:

You should be able to lower the speed in the UEFI. I know I was able to on my previous board which had one of those mofset/chipset fans..

edit: You can also unplug it from the board. The heatsink on the mofsets and chipset should be enough as long as you have good air flow in the area.

@2gunsup

This is what I'm seeing with HWMonitor and Corsair Link (I also see the same thing in my bios, but I dunno how to screen cap that).

Edit: Apparently Corsair link won't show my h80i in win 8 for whatever reason. It's still not 8.1 compatible.

All my other fans are normal fans hooked up to a fan controller or the case fans. I'm thinking the only thing that could possibly be 5000rpms is that fukking small fan on the motherboard, but I dunno.
Jesus christ just replace that piece of shyt pc.

I keep trying to change it, but I can't. Something is fukked up, but I'm gonna keep trying. I might just unplug it.

I get 30fps on all ultra everything at 1920. Lets see what you get. :usure: You cant even play games.
I can play games fine now that I got rid of trash ass geforce experience. I just have a sound card and fan problem now.

I was just playing black flag at 5780 x 1080 at ultra, txaa, and physx at 45fps. I bet you can't even play that shyt at 30fps in 720p on your laptop with the same settings.

Edit: in far cry 3 I get over 60fps with everything on ultra (in 3 monitors). We already went over that. That's a last gen game.
