Amazon is the shyt. My replacement 5K is coming Tuesday and they even sent me an apology email. Best customer service ever :wow:
Amazon is the best big company I've ever worked with in terms of customer service.

I just wish they treated their entry level employees better. I did not like the stories I heard so I just left.

You should have known better. Look for a 2nd or 3rd gen core i5 refurb on newegg and keep it moving if you want to stay cheap.

I've seen a few 3rd gen i5 builds go for about $200 with 8gb ram.

Edit: since this isn't a gaming build the form factor shouldn't be an issue. This is a SFF (BTX I believe) with a 3470. Add another 4GB RAM for about $10 or use your old parts to get the build you want and throw the old shyt you have in the trash. Sounds like you won't want to deal with the potential learning curve with Ubuntu, but if you do decide to jump Ubuntu or Ubuntu Mate are the best distros to start off with because they hold your hand through a lot of the things people need to do to get up and running.

HP COMPAQ 6300 PRO SFF Desktop PC - Intel Quad Core i5 3.2Ghz (3470) - 4GB RAM - 250GB HDD - DVD-ROM - Gigabit Ethernet - Windows 10 Home 64-bit installed - KB/Mouse Included-Newegg.com
It is a gaming build. That's the damn problem. Seems they are purposely trying to prevent you from using them for gaming.

Man, that is rough. Yeah a new build from scratch is the way to go then. You can also opt for a full mid tower offering from HP or any of those other manufacturers as you can easily swap things out in those these days, but they go for a little bit more since a lot of people take those apart and start a 3rd gen Core i5 gaming build on the cheap.

What GPU do you have?

HP and Dell use their own weird Mobo layouts and cases so that you have to go to them for most repairs. That's why we build our own around these parts breh.

If you need that Windows 10 Pro on the low hit me.

is your gpu overclocked?
No

Driver won't even recognize the card anymore and I see artifacting now...

Pretty much confirms the card is dying...:francis:

Was on a gtx 780 so its time for an upgrade anyways...

Anyone know what the deal with the 1070s is? Any price drops or deals coming soon? I can hold off for a month if its worth it.

I have a gtx 660. And I'm lazy, don't want to start from scratch.

Been googling all morning and it seems these cheap HP and Dells are purposely made difficult to upgrade.

The HP I had is perfect for upgrading, I would just buy the same one, but I can't find it anywhere.

I might just have to bite the bullet and spend $200 on the replacement motherboard.

RMA it. Should still be under warranty. The 1070 is pretty much two times the performance of a 780. Since AMD isn't releasing shyt any time soon I don't expect any price drops.

Had the 780 for 3 years...

Thought their warranty only lasts a year...

Probably just going to cop a 1070 from microcenter...

Depends on the manufacturer. Many high end cards have 2-3 year warranties. I think XFX was giving 3 year warranties for a while.
Will have to check when I get home...

It's an EVGA card I think I purchased from amazon...

Anyone have experience foing through the RMA proceas with them?

EVGA has the best support in the business they might work something out with you, they've been known to swap old cards for new ones.
