@Orbital-Fetus can you make a near death avi for me? I'm pushing it hard (I might got die tonight)
i won't support your flirtations with death.

No sense in going any lower right now. All those parts are the best bang for buck and leaves you with a nice core for a few years to come.If you're using a 1080 monitor you don't even need a i5 6600 and 1060 to max everything out.
Just finished building this for my sister and nieces. If anyone is interested in building a pc for the first time, or looking to purchase a new case, i highly recommend the cooler master masterbox 5 case.
Best price performance case in the market and ive built in a lot of cases both high end and real cheap. Absolutely love the case and im so glad i chose it over the zalman z9 neo.
Bought it on amazon for 65 bucks. Quality is amazing for the price, semi modular, lots of room in the back for cables and looks badass.
Most of the parts i already owned and transfered... specs:
Cpu: i5 6600k (new)
Mobo: gigabyte z170x gaming 6 (transfered)
Ram: corsair dominator platinum ddr4 3000mhz (transfered)

I wouldn't recommend anything less. there's always DSR if you got some headroomIf you're using a 1080 monitor you don't even need a i5 6600 and 1060 to max everything out.
I've playing console games and my OR recently. Not so much steam shyt though
Fair enoughi won't support your flirtations with death.
Gaming @ 8K with 2 Titan XPs Tomb Raider barely ran with medium settings. It was 20 FPS average.
That case you linked is way too small. There is no way you are going to fit in a decent graphics card in there.M350 Universal Mini-ITX enclosure
would this case cause overheating issues for a gaming pc that can run games like BF1 on max settings? I think the normal cases are bulky. If I don't have to have one i'd prefer not too.
*edit*
is this build obsolete?

That other build has a Core i3 and do not recommend it as a long term solution.
What price range are you trying to stay in?
I already laid out a recent parts list for someone for $850 total. Will be less if you don't need a monitor.I'm willing to pay whatever it takes to max out settings to games.
I'm trying to go lower end because I'm not sure I'm gonna like pc gaming. I don't want to build something crazy and get no use out of it.
The cheaper the better starting out. But taking advantage of what computer gaming has to offer is what's most important to me.

I recommend a core i5 6600K and GTX 1060 starting out.
You can go cheaper, but I personally do not recommend it because of the bang for buck value here.I was gonna go with that. Just thought maybe I could have a cheaper way of dipping my toe in the water. I'll probably build it next month. I appreciate the help.
