Finally installed an AIO cooler and changed the case. Took a while to hook up and I did the fans wrong at first as they were running 100% max speed. Looks nice. I would've put it up on my desk but I need to extend my HMDI cable.

I fixed the wires inside as they were messy and I put the case on top of the desk. Much better now. Loving it.

My son upgraded from a RTX 2060 to a 5060 TI 16gb but he's not seeing much improvement in the games, specifically Spiderman 2. Any suggestions?

hi

apologies if this has already been covered, but I just wanted to see what you were planning to do when Windows 10 reaches end of support (those of you who are still using it!). I'm still reluctant to use Windows 11 tbh.

Some options
  • Keep using it as normal
  • Switch to LTSC
  • Go for extended support (with or without ESU-bypass)
  • Go for micropatching (e.g. 0patch)
  • Upgrade to W11
  • Switch to another OS entirely
I'm not sure I could switch completely to Linux. I use a few distros for different things, but I don't know if I could use any of them as my main OS. Maybe one that comes with KDE Plasma? idk

edit: after a little further reading, switching to LTSC may be a rather painless option (hopefully going from Pro 22H2 to IoT LTSC 21H2 wouldn't require a clean install! - nope):

I have a dual build but ditched win10 since I wasn't experiencing any issues with win11 on my other drive. I'm about to either put 10 back on or try Linux.

Any good RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT recommendations?

I'm lookin at getting the Palit Gaming Pro 5070 ti. Of all the budget AIBs it looks like the largest and most over-engineered at 3 slots, meaning better cooling solution.

It's started going for £699 here in the UK :ehh:

9070 xt sapphire pulse pro can be had for £619 right now but I'd much rather spend the extra for Nvidia dlss and frame gen tricknology.

I just saw some sponsored results on StartPage :beli:

Easily hidden with uBO, but it's the principle.

Ad-related - I've been concerned about how to handle ad-blocking on the work computers once Chrome fully deprecates MV2 extensions. I thought the MV3 options were terrible in comparison, but I found this paper suggesting that they may not be that bad, especially if you use more than one?!

Enhanced Anti-Tracking Effectiveness with Multiple MV3 Ad Blockers.

Contrary to the initial concerns of some ad blocker providers, using multiple MV3 ad blockers simultaneously did not reduce their ad-blocking effectiveness. Instead, it significantly enhances their anti-tracking effectiveness. Specifically, the combination of multiple MV3 ad blockers (Adblock Plus MV3, AdGuard MV3, Stands MV3, and uBlock MV3) blocks around 13 more trackers (61.8%) than Adblock Plus MV3 alone, 7 more trackers (25.4%) than AdGuard MV3 alone, and 7 more trackers (26.9%) than Stands MV3 alone. This improvement in anti-tracking effectiveness is driven by the inclusion of the uBlock MV3 ad blocker in the combination, and it is likely due to uBlock’s stronger anti-tracking default configurations after installation—as highlighted in related work [25, 26]. This finding indicates that concerns regarding the combined use of MV3 ad blockers were unfounded. Notably, this finding represents increased privacy and security for a privacy-aware user who uses multiple MV3 ad blockers simultaneously.

So I’m building a PC and the processor I picked was the 9700X for my build, it’s on Amazon today for $290(was $304 last night). I’ve been down a rabbit hole for a few months looking at PC content and I’m seeing the 7800X3D pop up a lot. Should I pull the cord on this, brehs? :patrice:
