If you like physx you really don't have a choice. However I believe the 7950 is the better card. Not to get too technical but to benefit from 3 GB of ram on a card it has to be over a 384 bit bus or better so the extra ram on the 660 won't do you any justice, just go with a 2 GB version. Nvidia is supposed to be dropping the price of the 660 a couple bucks soon, not sure if Tiger Direct reflects the price drop yet.

Now let me get that Borderlands badge, :shaq:

yeah...i was doing some reading and the 3GB card seems like it's unnecessary.
my 560ti is still doing it's thing but i got a little loot saved up and i'm ready for an upgrade.

i'll wait for the prices to drop when the new wave of cards comes out and get me a 660ti.
if you have any other suggestions let me know.

how do i give you the badge?
i don't need that shyt anyway.

I would try to get a 760 or wait for the next nvidia cards. I think the 660ti isn't even in production anymore, since the 760 is cheaper and better

I wanted to recommend the 760 but figured he was in the sub $200 range if he was looking at a 660. Saving up a few more bucks for the 760 would def be worth it though.

Depends if you are overclocking and by how much. I'd say betweeen 4.2 to 4.5/4.6 GHZ is obtainable without delid. Anything over that and you're going to need to pop the top to keep temps in check unless you hit the silicon lottery and get a chip that can do those kind of speeds with very little voltage. I personally delidded first day for 4.8 @ 1.38v.

i wanna get it to 4.5 at least, what kind of idle/load temps would i see on average? (lets say ambient temps are normal room temperature 20-23c)

I honestly can't say without Googling as I never ran my CPU on air. Idle temps aren't really important. Load temps is what you should be concerned with. Ivy Bridge has a Tj Max of 105c so you have a lot of room to work with. Anything under 90c and you should be good.
