So, fixing my nvidia driver component issue (by just disabling it...) only gave me like a 1fps increase

It looks like I'm staying with win 8.1

Now I'm gonna overclock all night and then finally play a motherfukking game (Walking Dead Season 2 episode 4 )

With the gaming aside the Shield Tablet looks to be a good buy given the specs of the thing.

Best part about it is they don't tie it down to a serial number. You buy the plan and if you have say 3 of those CPU's you can use the warranty on whichever one you want. Next time I upgrade my CPU I'll just RMA it so that I can sell it as new once I receive the replacement.

I have never heard of bad airflow in a Elite 130, what kind of PSU and fan do you have in there?

Sounds like it might be bad cable management in there.

Wait, is it stated anywhere that they will sell you a boxed brand new replacement? Or just OEM without heatsink and fan?

or that power supply could be going bad. watching a video suddenly the PC will freeze the fans kick into overdrive and next thing i know i'm at a black screen then a reboot. even happens at stock clock speeds.

Will have to get back to you on that. I'm under the assumption that they send you a complete box set since I've seen people selling their back from RMA CPU's in sealed boxes.

Go into your bios and check to see what your voltages are reporting on the 12v 5 and 3.3v rails. Or you can use HWINFO64.

I got my 4820K to 4.7 with 1.3 v

No idea if it's stable or not yet (I'm gonna run prime 95 now), but, other than benchmarking, these performance gains are pretty much non-existant. I didn't even gain 1 frame in AC:BF, and watch dogs still stutters (I did gain 2000 physics points in 3D Mark though ).

I dunno if overclocking is worth it.


edit: 4.7 is not stable. Back to 4.5 and 1.2v

Why would you get an increase in fps on a game you're most likely running at a resolution that is GPU bound. Watch Dogs is a broken game, you may as well delete the shyt.

Well, black flag hits 100% cpu every once in a while. I wanted to see if an overclock would increase the fps in those situations. It didn't

How long should I be running Prime 95 for? My temps are staying around 57C with a max of 63C and it keeps passing tests. It's passed the 20 minute test for sure. Is there some sort of 12 hour test I should be doing too?

Doesn't really matter, the game isn't CPU bound at 3x1080p.
