in what situations would I see a performance increase with an overclock?

Encoding, archiving, shyt like that. In games you'll see a performance increase mostly in RTS games like Rome II, Shogun, Civilization, etc. There are a gang of other games that benefit from it but at the resolution you're gaming at you're going to be GPU bound most of the time.

both those games are basically 'broken'. ubisoft sux and blah blah blah
Black flag isn't as bad as watch dogs, but I have it lucky with that game. I know some people had it way worse with black flag than watch dogs

I found something that overclocking really helped out on....Skyrim :gladbron:

I'm at 60fps in towns now with everything on ultra and high res textures (before it would dip in the mid 40s). :blessed:

The glorious master race is starting to treat me well again :blessed:

Edit: Hitman Absolution just got demolished in ultra in 3 monitors too :blessed:

I take back what I said about overclocking. shyt is worth it :blessed:

those are probably 2 of the best examples as they hit the CPU hard

Everybody with an overclocked Haswell, how do I make it not jump up in speed so quickly. It's at 1.18 at idle, but then goes up really quickly the more CPU I use (like 3.5 at 15%, which is a lot quicker than it did before the overclock). Is this just a side effect of overclocking, or is there something I can do about it?
