Them nikkas is always trying to kill & tear each other down. NY hip hop has a underlying hater culture. Its too hyper competitve. There is never co-existance and peace amongst one another.

Its funny, I was watching that 50 cent smack DVD and then it hit me. This nikka done beefed with every single rapper in New York :snoop: , you got Fat Joe putting the beats :pachaha: on papoose. Saigon snuffing Prodigiy, Maino beating everybody up, Tru Life :youngsabo: , Jim getting ran out the Rucker, Jay fukking Nas baby moms :wow: , even back in the day LL was beefing with everybody, The Bridge is over. Etc.

NY hip hop aint gonna come back until these old super tough ass gangster rappers sit the fukk down and let the new nikkas come and run shyt. I have a feeling the newer generation will understand that you gotta work together rather than tear each other down. There is never a collective movement in NY cause them nikkas got WAAY to big egos.

Jay and Nas are doing their thing to this day. Everyone else is either :flabbynsick:, not commercially viable or just :trash:

EDIT: don't get me wrong though, I'm from LA but I think overall most of my favorite rappers are from NY than any other city

I admit. Initially, Maino and Uncle Murder and all them came in on some fake 50 cent shyt. It didnt work for them. Maino has settled in and I heard him say that he took the wrong route initially.

But I just think the ones who trying to come in now just doing too many collabs and doing shyt over south beats.

No identity of their own

Uncle Murda 06-08 was my favorite rapper... French is a pretty average MC but his ear for beats is :whoo:, same thing with ASAP..... Don't forget Max B... Who was probably the most talent NY artists to come out since 05

Harry Fraud is basically KONY right now... from French to Action Bronson to Sean Price to Meyham Lauren to Chinx Drugz, to working with MMG and Curren$y... He not only makes great music but is a hot name as well

totally agree with op but gotta understand that the life ****** live streets is eat or be eatin and when you put them in the music biz same type of ****** you get same type of mentallity.Plus in NY we care bout being the best so its comp in order for you to make the most paper you have to have the best product and same thing in the music biz and i think thats what it was.Real talk thugh if NY was to put together a movement back then with each i dont think alot of this bs rap would be around now real talk.

new york is not the friendliest place in the world, lol, i think the city is notorious for this, but cats were able to coexist and pop bottles together and all that prior to 2002. 50 Cent kind of turned New York dark. the nas and hov thing (and previous "feuds") was intense but it was different with them, it felt like a rap battle. 50 cent and them took it somewhere else, sh!t just f*cked up everything. i think fabolous sh!tted on 50 for ruining new york in terms of dudes bein cool with each other but he backed off of it once 50 responded.

Its good to see the "new" crop of NY cats getting along together and really supporting each other. I thought Bronson's sudden rise in fame would stir a lot of jealousy, and to an extent some nikkas are mad but overall dudes seem chill about it. It helps that he's opening doors for them, putting them on his albums and introducing them to producers. Meyhem Lauren is now doing shyt with Harry Fraud and Alchemist, just like Bronson.

Only dude I verse somewhat of a salty vibe from is Maffew Ragazino. The Outdoorsmen dudes are getting mad co-signs, as are Roc Marciano and Exquire, but Maffew kind of gets ignored a bit. I hope that changes because dude is dope.

Who would have guessed that a fat white Albanian would be lighting up the underground NY scene.

Oh forgot about RocMarci
any news on that M.A.R.S. album??? NY still got a lot of talent "underground" but the majors/mainstream ain't really fukkin with NY cats that much. It's all southern swag under the Universal umbrella

Huge Bronson fan. One of the most talented new commers. But I feel in order for NY to come back fully. We need new friendly nikkas popping up from all over the city. From all boroughs. From The Bronx, to Brooklyn, to Queens, to Harlem, shyt to even Yonkers, New Ro , n Mt Vernon.

I feel in this day and age, New York can pull off another mordernized version of the golden age. But what needs to happen is these old nikkas need to fall back. Cause I can just imagine. If a Wiz Khalifa type of cat started popping in Brooklyn. Sooner or later Maino would put the paws on him. Cuz he didnt feel properly respected or didnt get a shoutout or sum stupid shyt.

Edit: The story of Max B is a prime example of how NY nikkas egos dont let talent blossom. Jim Jones was being a straight up jealous bytch, who didnt allow Max to get out of his contract and do his own thing solo. Why? Jus cause the nikka was hotter than you in the streets and wanted to branch out? :why:

50 never beefed with Fab.

However Fab did throw a subliminal at Fif on twitter a while back.

I remember listening to the Street Dreams album back in 04 and thinking to myself like :damn: I hope this nikka 50 don't end fab's career because he did a song with Ashanti.

As a NYC hip hop head I kinda enjoy the beefs as these beefs produced some dope music.

Ether, Destroy & Rebuild, Takeover, the LOX bytch slapping G Unit on wax, Kick in the Door, Loose Change, Piggy Bank, etc :ahh:

Long as they stay on wax and these dudes don't take it to the streets I don't mind the beefing. In a perfect world they would squash it after the beefs die down though, as NYC collab records :ahh:

A generational rift. You got these old fuks like Maino trying to muscle out young cats from getting shine and he older than Nas! The old NY MCs who grew up in the rough and tough crack era NY need to realize that its a new day and you need fresh blood to make music to carry the torch.

The crab-in-a-barrel mentality is what made NY into the distant last place in the rap game today. The South, Nu-West, the Midwest, and everything in between is grinding and shining. NY still want these under-achieving old bums to rep them and thinking that young kids rather be thugs than swagger influence.

Kanye/ Wiz/ Wayne/ Drake kind of style is what's in. Many heads don't like it, but their style has got to run its course.
