Everybody can only see console wars
I said well before the Gen started that actual exclusive games would be very few. Not because anything microsoft was or wasn’t doing. It’s because the economics of the traditional AAA console strategy just don’t work anymore.
Sony has made the calculation that subsidized consoles and holding their games hostage to one platform is not a winning strategy for their profits.
PS6 will be expensive, not because sony is “arrogant“ It’s because as sony said MAU is the most important metric. They don’t need to tank their profits to force people on to PS6. They will meet gammers wherever they are and people will upgrade as they see fit.
All yall gotta do is step outside the console war and the cac tweets/videos and it all makes perfect sense

Like, the "cross gen games tho.." argument is not inherent to PS5 first party titles. Almost every major game this gen had a PS4 version but you don't see this talk around the likes of Elden Ring, RE 4 Remake, Cyberpunk 2077. Nobody is going off about Hollow Knight Silksong being on PS4 though
Hell, Cyberpunk was a perfect example of people showcasing why it was pointless to play on PS4 and how even just a boosted version was superior at it's launch. Nobody when talking about how good Cyberpunk was is talking about the PS4 or X1 version. They're talking about the PS5/XSX version or PC. Nobody said Diablo IV wasn't really good because a PS4 SKU exists. It's just arbitary stan babble.
Yall still do it now when it comes to xbox.

Xbox has Halo, Forza, and Gears on Playstation now, DAY 1.
Playstation does not have Uncharted, God of War, Spider-Man, TLOU, Ratchet, Ghost etc. on Xbox or Nintendo at all.

This gen is better than PS4, just off the strength of PS Plus and the console itself being backwards compatible. IDK what ya’ll are talking about.

I want to play Symphony of the Night on PS5, I got the PS1 disc. You mean I gotta buy a PS2 to enjoy the back catalog? Nah, I ain't downloadin' nothin'. I got the physical media, I should be able to play the whole back catalog on the new system.

but you gotta remember who started console BC too. The only reason this shyt is expected now is due to what the PS2 and early PS3s did allowing backwards compatability.
Nintendo never did it, Sega never did either.

Backwards compatibility is a great concept, I can play the same Alpha 3 my uncle had back in '98 on PS5?
C'mon, that's a great intergenerational business strategy. Just update the memory card technology to be compatible with new generation storage.
I would have bought a PS5 if it was backwards compatible, think of all the games that came out since PS1.
All the games you saved generation to generation? Sony get desperate and release an upscaled version of classics from older consoles.
