The ps4 will NOT play music CD's

CDs do have the best sound quality. It's on an outdated format sure but MP3s loses quality with compression. It's aperceptual hearing thing until you listen to the difference on a good set up or some decent headphones but there is a difference.

If it can read CDs is it possible you can just ript your music from the CD and play it on the PS4. I mean if this was 2005 someone would likely could resort to that option.

This is what I'm wondering because I've never seen a drive that could read a disc but not play it. If there some sort of lockout preventing the music disc from playing I'm guessing that would apply to ripping too.

In light of the newest sony update, and no real features added that gamers wanted
And how they rushed in 3D Blu-ray support ONLY because the XB1 was doing it

It makes you wonder, what and why is sony doing this?

My theory was correct since they then took out MP3 support after this thread was created
