At first, this was going to be a troll thread. The info is REAL, but at first glance I looked at it like most of you.
But then after putting in just a few seconds of REAL thought, you notice something more is going on here. WHY wouldn't you be able to play music CD's on it
I mean, really think about this. Before you start, drop the fanboy schtick

Why can't it play music CD's? You have to realize that functionality was removed. Why remove it?
It can read data CD, just not music CD's. I guess we can overlook it, but there is a significant reason. I broke it down in the OG post. If somebody has a better idea as to why? Please share it. If not, all I'm saying is to be AWARE of what these companies are doing. A lot of your are more concerned with a console war than to pay attention to whats REALLY going on out there

I have a six disc changer in my truck ... but it also has an Ipod dock... and of course an Aux input.

the only thing is would have been good for in the PS4 is ripping discs anyway, no one would play cds off of it. Same as pS3

If we can put the fanboy war on hold for a moment, why the fukk would this happen?

One theory I have is that plenty of ppl still use CD's. I guess its fair to say that not everyone uses iTunes. Not everyone downloads there own music either. According to you guys, not everyone has internet. There is this huge portion of ppl who don't have high speed internet so why alienate all these games by making the next xbox always on???

I think sony is locking the ability to put music on the ps4 so they can force you to pay via there service. You know how you can put movies on the ps3 HDD, they taking the ability to play music CD's on the console itself. You really think they gonna let you put movies directly on the HDD again

They took away BC because of some made up reason that doesn't even make sense. It appears they are restricting alot of features that it should be able to do out the box. Why? Thats the question, anybody wanna help me with the answers?

The ps4 cannont play CD's is what one dev said, but sony later clarified that it can read CD's, it just can't play Music CD's

Another thing is they took out BC because it was a neccaary evil to make sure dev's will be happy going forward.

Sony is gonna try to emulate XBL like usual. Sony they are gonna try to make the ps4 this media device as well. You will be able to download music/movies just like ppl do with iTunes But to take away the ability to play a music CD so they can pimp there music angle

And the Backwards compatibility being a nessesary evil to make dev's happy going forward? Is this a blatant lie so they can resell you past games via there Gakki stream service

There will be an andriod/ios/playstation app for it, not explained

All games can be streamed to Vita except those using the psEye or the tracking part on the controller so if you hate 1080p and you want to play your ps4 games on a screen the size of an Atari Lynx? Knock yourself out
BUT... these features will NOT be there day 1. And knowing sony's track record, that should scare you. Same thing was promised for PSP and we all know how that turned out

I usually just rip shyt off my portable harddrive for music downloaded or streamed on my ps3 (usb 2.0 on the ps3)

I read the specs on the ps4 and it showed that this one is compatible with the new Portable HD's (usb 3.0)

i have a 07' with a Bose system 6 disc changer and built in satellite radio. i dont have a ipod hook up in the deck but i have all the songs i listen to on cds and will take 5 minutes to burn another if i have to. id upgrade the deck but its too expensive for Bose because it has to be compatible i already have 1k in the trunk rattling i can deal with not having every song on shuffle

and im an iphone 4 guy with a shyt load of songs on it. sure it would be nice to have a hook up but it is what it is
