exactly, I still buy CD's & I just popped them in my PS3 & ripped them to my HDD. I hope you can still rip them at least.

I think what you are referring to are netbooks. The whole point of netbooks is to reduce cost size and weight by not offering thing like optical drives or other inputs. They rely on just USB ports.
So no computers aren't dropping optical drives. There is a type of computer that doesn't need them. But manufacturers are not dropping support for optical drives.

I can't wait until the official ps4 reveal occurs so you xbots can see how a real next gen system is supposed to function.

On the CD thing, it is somewhat concerning I guess. Now, I'm no tech head but from my understanding of the way optical drives work if it can read a disc it should play, meaning this isn't something like BC that would be a costly process to implement with their system, they went out of their way to put something in place so that the drive wouldn't even recognize something as meaningless as a music cd which is a format they could support basically without trying. Does make you wonder why they wouldn't mentioned it or even talk about it until some developer made it public.
Not a big deal just an odd thing casually throw out there.
