Power is just one part though. It's also cultural background, ethics, morales, political beliefs, and rereligion. Whatever background your parents came from is more likely what you identify as and that's what you want in your future spouse.

Men technically bring the resources, not women. So if having more resources makes someone want to trade them for access to women he felt were out of reach before he had the $, or women he thinks are better than Black women, then… Keeping the resources in-house isn’t as important.
