the NFL screwed up the QB market, between switching to drafting dudes and expecting them to start vs sitting a couple year, to that era (08/09-to present) when dudes were getting bushed in yr 2/2.5 creating a QB carousel to that leading to the overvaluing of the QB position (and the NFL only promoting the QB/making the MVP the QB award)...the league has done a lot to fukk up the QB market by creating a whole slew of overpaid mediocre QBs

They draft these quarterbacks now and expect them to change the fortune of their franchises the next season and if they struggle they are thrown to the bushes.

but in all honesty, isn't that what you want?

back in the day, coaches forced QB's coming from college to learn completely different systems.

now a days, especially with players who ran a lot of rpo's they tailor the offense around their strengths.

Also don't forget making it a passing league so teams feel like they have to have the QB and surround him with a team instead of building a team and putting the QB in.

Realistically should be starting over Phillip rivers

Jacoby's a high-tier back-up at best. He was always a conservative passer, but that knee injury last season really dampened things when it came to stepping into throws and taking those deep shots down field...which at many times I thought he seemed afraid to do regardless, pre and post injury.

Rivers has past familiarity with Reich and the OC back in San Diego, so there's already a comfort level there that wasn't with Jacoby. I can already see the coming, but it's easy to figure why we moved on from him.

Those teams also have actual GM's that don't do dumb shyt like hire coordinators before head coaches. Or fire the entire coaching staff except the offensive coordinator

Goff is 25 and better than everyone on that list below him. You HAVE to pay him unfortunately or risk him walking and someone else paying him. If you don't then you're back to square one looking for a QB

But you had to lock him up before Mahomes reset the market. Now Goff's salary will look like a bargain compared to what Murray, Lamar will cost. They are going to be in the mid 40s with Mahomes.
