It’s funny how people who are knowledgeable about shyt post something with research and facts.

Then random internet nikkas just be like “nah, my biased opinion on something I know absolutely nothing about is right and you’re stupid” :heh:

The 90s is objectively one of the best decades for American culture in general. They'll never meet that level, tbh, and no one will be talking about these cats because of the fast food-like society we have become. Artists, especially rappers, responded the fast food mentality and it resulted in hot music now but :scust: over time. I repeat, no one will be talking about these 90's and 21st century born n1ggas' music a decade plus from now, which also means a mass reduction of residuals for their songs. :yeshrug:

and it's still not as big as what the 90s nostalgia was in the early 00s
The 90’s nostalgia was in the 2010’s.

It goes in 20 year cycles. All the teens and young adults now are mid-90’s to 2000’s babies so they are nostalgic for the 2000’s which was their childhood.

That’s why there’s a huge increase in sampling 00’s records and fashion brands and styles coming back as well as 00’s themed parties and whatnot.

In the 90’s there was 70’s nostalgia.

it's not.. i'm not old. Mainstream hip-hop fell way off in the early 2000s and hasn't recovered.

Hip hop is in a better space today than it was back then.

Not sure who's fault that would be but it's objectively true.

How, when music is subjective?

There's no more creativity that can sell more than a few records.

Top 5 albums with the highest first week numbers this year are from:

Tyler
Cole
Kanye
Drake
Lil Baby & Lil Durk

There's more than enough creativity in mainstream hip hop today. Probably moreso than in the 90s/2000s

Rappers used to drop ONE album every 2 to 4 years. Nowadays, they drop multiple forgettable projects in a single year.

I think the space is harmful to quality artists who don't want to play the influencer pipe gang. A lot of these artists are using tik tok to market their product, and it's everything but the music to the drive engagement to the music. So you got people who are okay or even down right medicore at their craft, but are great at marketting, taking up space which is why some of y'all are bored.

On top of this, people have less time to consume, and let work marinate which is why you will see something get talked about for 1-2 weeks and then it's gone.
