That looks like a stronger lineup compared to 2005-2007

It still fits within the time-frame. The problem is that last gen was stretched to last as long as it did. Any other cycle those games would have launched on the current hardware.

Fallout 4 was disappointing because it felt like Fallout 3.5. For a game to come out 7 years later and feel damn near the same is a bit underwhelming. I knew I was done after 5 hours. Deleted the install and deleted the save as well. I can't believe that shyt. I was so hyped for it too.

New players should love it though...going into a fallout game for the first time is for anyone remotely interested in the setting.

I agree with Liquid for the most part. There are some fukked up practices now a days, but for the most part there are some amazing games out there but this cry baby, find something wrong with everything generation is nearly impossible to please.

Also as we get older and technologies plateau with diminishing returns it's harder to get those wow moments that Mario 64, OOT, and FF7 gave us. (wave race honorable mention )

Oh and the new Tomb Raider games are much better than that dark period before Crystal Dynamics rebooted the franchise. Tomb Raider was almost dead before the GAWDS came and took over. The old tomb raider games are damn near unplayable by today's standards.

I remember booting Tomb Raider II a few years ago and shut that shyt off almost immediately

Well you're a PC gamer primarily so I expect you not to really "get" the next gen feel but I basically view a next gen game as a game that cannot be run on last gen hardware at all. If a game has a last gen port, then to me it feels like the game has to be scaled down and held back with that thing in mind. A boost in res/fps is not sufficient imo to call it next gen. Like GTA V on PS3 and PC is the same game. So what it can run at 4K/60fps on PC, it still is practically the same game.

There are no PSOne/N64 to PS2/XBOX jumps anymore. Games will be scaling to appear on 2 generations from here on out regularly

It's about jumps. Most of the games coming out this year you can see the jump. A game like FFXV looks next gen as is KH3. You see a game and you just know it's unplayable on last gen literally If a PS4 game looks like a PS3 game with a higher res and FPS then that's just a cross gen game. I can bet you they're about done with cross gen games this year. You not seeing no damn GTA 6 on PS3.

This is good for both PC gamers too. Why would you want a game on PC that you know is designed with a 360 in mind?? You're basically getting a souped up console game. Y'all buying $500 GPU's but are fine with cross gen games? You're basically kidding yourself. That GPU is throwing people off. Once more games start being designed with PS4/XB1 in mind, then the PC ports will be more impressive and demand stronger hardware. LOL @ dudes thinking their PC is a monster because they running a maxed out 1440P/60fps copy of MGSV when we know that's a cross gen game. These the same idiots that then cry about high requirements for the next big game and they go back and say "But MGSV ran like butter wtf!?" failing to realize MGSV is a very basic and simple looking game.

That's basically what I'm saying. When you go for so many years and end up with a game that feels like a last gen game, it's not impressive. Even though there wasn't a PS3/360 version, I'm quite sure they could've ported it to PS3 but they just didn't.

I might have mentioned this before, but basically once you realize you don't have to like or play every game, gaming becomes way more enjoyable. I realized that last year. I bought Witcher 3, Batman and Fallout 4 and played those games 8 hours, 4 hours and 1 hour respectively. Total fukking waste because I don't really like open world games. I fell for the hype even though I knew deep down they weren't my thing. (Great games though, no hate).

Be selective of what you play, take breaks, and you'll enjoy gaming more.

Getting older and different hobbies
Having more disposable income thus taking more chances on games that you would not have asked mom for.
Focusing only on consoles when the focus is slowly moving away from that model.
Relying too much on review score sites like metacritic to justify why you will or won't buy a game

It's only going to get "worse" if all you are doing is obsessing over the fact that games weren't like "the good old days". Go back to playing PS2 games now. I guarantee you that you won't last long with much of the library. Most of the ones worth playing have been "remastered" and thrown everywhere...at this point I expect Capcom to port Resident Evil 4 to the Apple TV.

This generation has been fine IMO. It started a little slow, but there have been some pretty damn good games that have been released on all consoles. In fact, I actually think the Wii U is much MUCH better than the Wii despite the slow sales.

I have been back and forth with this shyt with several on here for a while. For example, @Ciggavelli and I disagree with how much we focus on ratings these days. If I were to go on ratings alone, I would not have grabbed Street Fighter V and I love that damn game despite it's flaws. Is it a 95 out of 100 when you start checking off things? No, but it's FUN to me and that is all that matters. Should @Fatboi1 be on suicide watch if Uncharted 4 comes out and doesn't get a 90+ across the board? It's not that damn serious man. Those sites like metacritic and all aggregators are FULL of people that use the scores to strengthen their position. Confirmation Bias as to why they won't get the Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo console.

ZOMG HALO 5 is not even an 85 overall! WOW, what a TERRIBLE GAME. I don't even have to play it because it's a HALO GAME UNDER 90!!!!! OMG, XBOX LOST! @MeachTheMonster LOST!

Stop paying attention to review scores and you will be happier with your games guaranteed. There is such a thing as TOO much information, just ask those who have taken facebook vacations.

Terrible...TERRIBLE analogy. Standards are higher now and it shows. You guys just love to let Nostalgia keep you thinking that those games in the past are great...many of those old ass games were broken as fukk. Fun? Yeah we were young, but still broken.

Oh and most of those old ass games you just listed are not playable at all by today's standards. The OG Mario Bros isn't a good game by today's standards, it's just a classic because it was the first game that many people played. Super Mario World is the only 2D mario game released back in the day that I would consider playable by the younger audience today, they will dismiss part 1 and part 2 easily because of their controls. Mortal Kombat X is the best Mortal Kombat ever released. Perfect Dark? Sonic 2? Those games just won't fly today because we have evolved and have better games that fill a similar need to the gamers.
