They don't feel the way to me AT ALL. I will play it again tomorrow to see if maybe I am making too much out of it. But Mario 3 and especially World always felt much better to me than the OG.
idk man it's the same. Hell, it ain't just the physics that makes OG mario great. The level design, music, and soul of the game is really good especially on Mario Maker.

Is a combination of:
Getting older and different hobbies
Having more disposable income thus taking more chances on games that you would not have asked mom for.
Focusing only on consoles when the focus is slowly moving away from that model.
Relying too much on review score sites like metacritic to justify why you will or won't buy a game

It's only going to get "worse" if all you are doing is obsessing over the fact that games weren't like "the good old days". Go back to playing PS2 games now. I guarantee you that you won't last long with much of the library. Most of the ones worth playing have been "remastered" and thrown everywhere...at this point I expect Capcom to port Resident Evil 4 to the Apple TV.

This generation has been fine IMO. It started a little slow, but there have been some pretty damn good games that have been released on all consoles. In fact, I actually think the Wii U is much MUCH better than the Wii despite the slow sales.

I have been back and forth with this shyt with several on here for a while. For example, @Ciggavelli and I disagree with how much we focus on ratings these days. If I were to go on ratings alone, I would not have grabbed Street Fighter V and I love that damn game despite it's flaws. Is it a 95 out of 100 when you start checking off things? No, but it's FUN to me and that is all that matters. Should @Fatboi1 be on suicide watch if Uncharted 4 comes out and doesn't get a 90+ across the board? It's not that damn serious man. Those sites like metacritic and all aggregators are FULL of people that use the scores to strengthen their position. Confirmation Bias as to why they won't get the Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo console.

ZOMG HALO 5 is not even an 85 overall! WOW, what a TERRIBLE GAME. I don't even have to play it because it's a HALO GAME UNDER 90!!!!! OMG, XBOX LOST! @MeachTheMonster LOST!

Stop paying attention to review scores and you will be happier with your games guaranteed. There is such a thing as TOO much information, just ask those who have taken facebook vacations.
This the only gen i've been able to see from the start, but im just ready for certain games to make the next gen leap

I've always kept a huge libary of games since Atari so i tend to like a wider range of games. this gen is fine, its only the people worried about what the next person thinks who find the games today boring or whatever.whenever i see a cat bring up metacritic to defend their argument :scust:

and as far as remastered games dont plat them, nobody is making you plus the resources diverted to bring these to the current gen arent slowing said developers from making games. especially Capcom they're bringing RE 456 but they aint making shyt anyway and haven't in a long time.

OP is like 95% correct.

However it is true that we used to have less sequels and more genre variety in the past.

I'll say it again, ppl dumped on sports game for years as not being important. But it's no coincidence that the drop in video game popularity and enthusiasm has occured as sports games have become less prevalent.

You're forced to buy 1 football game, 1 baseball game, only 1 decent basketball game exists, no more college games period(this is a big deal), no more golf, no tennis, no X-games, skating, etc. no other variety that existed in the past. Sports gamers were considered "casual" gamers, but they spent a couple hundred bucks per year.

The video game industry instead only wanted to cater to FPS and RPG's, and anything else be damned.

But the reality is, sports games sold systems. Point blank.

Dont consoles define the gens?

Also what about lower quality games? Remasters out the ass? Downgrades? Disappointing console performance? Games feeling like they're missing a lot of content? Nearly every big release being disappointing?

No the fukk it isn't. I replayed that shyt last year even. Non-Sonic/Shadow levels are :trash: and even those are hindered by a wonky camera.

I play the HD remaster on 360, I still have a lot of fun with it.

The puzzle missions weren't the best but the developers had to to do something to break the mutiny of running fast all the time.

That's one of my problems with sonic generations which was the best sonic games to come out for years, I got bored of running fast all the time. The game didn't take much skill at all.

I really enjoyed sonic unleashed as well. The camera wasn't a problem for me, could it been better, definitely.

I personally am sick of open world games. Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 had clunky combat. MGS5 had great combat but a terrible story which is a no-no for a MGS game. Bloodborne, if it counts, was the only open world game that I liked that came out last year.

I feel like this is more of a problem with how movies and TV is discussed on this site

I went to the film room on a couple occasions to discuss. Certain shows (Tru detective season 1 and Narcos)

It was like posters couldn't even enjoy the shows because conversation where about how people were miscast, accents, directing decisions, etc :mindblown: I'm thinking who in the hell talks about TV like this y'all aren't funding these damn shows

Then you have the posters who read all the spoilers and director interviews that tell everyone their wrong about the interpretation because the assistant lighting director said such and such :snoop:

But with games I don't see a lot of complaining, it's more so a vocal minority that won't admit their tast have changed

I don't think video game popularity has declined though and I doubt it's due to less sports games

Do you have evidence of your claims?
