No one "gives up all the power".
It's taken.

I remember this being said about Trump after the election, "will he leave the white house, will he give up the oval office"... and here we are.
Don't fall for the fear mongering.
Leveraging
our vote isn't as dangerous as the "back in chains" crowd is claiming.
But it is public knowledge now that Trump and his team came up with a plan to circumvent the election, cast out electors in battleground states due to alleged voter fraud have the vote sent to the House where with 1 vote for each state (in which Republicans would have a majority) and would thus re-elect Trump. The problem was not enough Republicans in power would follow through with the plan, saying it goes against the constitution.

So what does Trump do? Endorse politicians who believe in election fraud and other ridiculous conspiracies, and would be willing to put his plan in play. He also made 245 judicial appointments of young conservatives, who will be federal judges for life.

Don't kid yourself thinking that Majorie Taylor, Green, Lauren Boebart, and Matt Gaetz care about following the constitution, fiscal responsibility, and fair elections. No, they care about winning at all costs. DeSantis is the 2nd most popular Republican behind Trump, which says a lot. This coming midterm elections more of those types will obtain power at the federal, state, and local levels. That's not fear mongering, that's foreshadowing.

:unimpressed:So basically, rethugs are too scary to buck the status quo… got it.
I fear the long term consequences of these fears worse than the short term theatrics of Trump and his ilk.
We can agree to disagree.

what are the long term consequences you are afraid of?

Contentment... and complacency.
I personally don't believe people change unless they have to :manny: and the lefts aims (in my opinion) to make everyone comfortable where they are, solidifying the status quo.
Essentially it doesn't want to uplift blacks from the bottom, it wants to make blacks more comfortable at the bottom.(ie, tax credits, min wage hikes, healthcare)

Maybe the black community's situation is just more dire to me than it is to most because I can't fathom how being wed to a party with zero incentive to actually uplift us is what we should be doing right now. We should be doing everything we can to leverage our fading political capital... even voting republican.
No political friends, only a black agenda:yeshrug:that's how we should move IMO.

See the thing is I like Democrats in theory but in practice lately it’s been a complete shyt show. They are so focused on helping LGBTQ that they forgot about the rest of America. The hard truth is this. We are not aligned with the LGBTQ, Hispanics, Asians. They all have a better standing in America than us. So if you’re just focused on helping transgenders and illegal immigrants that doesn’t help the average white American or us either. The dems have us so trained to think we should fight for illegals and gays. The fact is if it’s bad for working class white folks it’s going to worst for us. “"A rising tide lifts all boats". That’s the facts. Gas 4.00 a gallon and inflation hurts everyone. And the dems are limousine liberals. Their same criticism for republicans is what they have became. They are fine with us starving as long as their agenda gets pushed. We keep fearing Republicans and their racism, that we forget how much gas cheaper and the inflation wasn’t crazy like it is now. And Biden doesn’t even say anything about it getting better. I’m tired of the Republican boogie man but modern day Democrats are out of touch with the struggles of everyday people. They are supposed to be the champions of the poor. I’m going with whoever aligns my interests and my wallet. I’m socially conservative and don’t like these high prices. Why shouldn’t we all vote Republican? What are we getting from dems?

The Democrats are not a great friend, but the Republicans openly tell you that you are the enemy.

I just showed you a court case where a federal judge called them out for targeting minorities.
That is extremely rare. Ive only seen it happen a few times and I follow these kinds of cases very closely.

You are not leveraging your capital.
You are throwing it in the trash and saying you have no interest in using it again.

They pass these laws in every single state they can now that the Republicans on the Supreme Court chipped away at the voting rights act.

Trees shouldnt vote for lumberjacks.

Your perspective is completely insane to me.

The facts are that the political system in this country is exclusively set up to choose one party or the other.
You do not have any other choice. You must pick a side and try to shape that side to fit your ideals as much as possible.

This is only true, if Dems will not be incentivized to earn our support back... which is possible...
...but other minority groups vote agenda and so should we.

When trump came into office the black caucus refused to meet with and deal with him... this mindset hurts us, and squanders opportunities.

You are 100% correct though about our duopoly.
Dems claim they need the black vote, all im suggesting is a way to make them prove it.

But Republicans don't need our vote at all. They just need us to stay our asses at home. Their white base is going to vote for them regardless.

What we are interested in is how dems respond...

... and we should be open to working with republicans, especially seeing how much better they are at wielding power.
