$600 ain't shyt!:mjlol: I'll just put it into savings. :yeshrug::ehh:

The stimulus check is meh and always was. The more important part for people hurting is the weekly unemployment bonus getting reapproved. The state/city money might be big too cause a lot of local governments are talking mad layoffs and service cuts right now.

$900 billion as a second stimulus ain't no joke....remember that Obama's entire stimulus in 2008 after the collapse wasn't even that big.

I would never understand anyone being mad at students loans being forgiven. Some of the dumbest, spiteful and MAGA shyt I've heard on this site, recently. :francis:

I paid my student loan off 4 years ago and am thankful for that, but there are many who could pay bills easier without it looming over their heads. So many positive benefits....

Thankfully, their input isn’t needed. Biden can wipe it away with a swipe of a pen. The question is will he? It’s hilarious that they argue about moral hazard when people want to clear $1.7 trillion in student loan debt but were quiet on the $2.2 trillion we gave to the rich that trickled down to no one.

Whether or not he can actually do it is uncertain. It's never been tested before and certainly will be challenged in the courts with a prolonged legal fight, and could come with some hang-ups (like tax bills on the forgiven debt).

They got destroyed on this bill :dwillhuh:

Republicans basically signed this so they can go home
They kept employers from skating any legal issues due to Covid, Mitch took an L:ufdup:

And they got additional funding for states and extended unemployment benefits:ld:

Plus they got rid of some last minute bullshyt thrown in by Republicans to stop Fed funding for the President-elect:whew:

For half of what it was before, for 4 months.

just to put things in perspective

Unemployment in California even with the extra $300 a week, comes out to $3000 (really $2800 after taxes, which you do have to pay for base unemployment) a month

Evictions start next month I believe, unless that was also changed in the bill which I did not see.

the $600 payments stopped in July.

the max unemployment someone in California could of got was $1620 a month.

thats not enough for rent for almost any city, even the “outskirts” let alone other bills on top of that. Assuming the $300 a week is back pay, all its going to do is pay off a few months of rent missed for a lot of people. Its simply not enough.

This is really disguised as a land lord stimulus the more I type this out and think about it. For a lot of folks its going to be choose eviction, or pocket the $4800 extra from unemployment.

Agreeing to restrict the fed is absolutely idiotic, and will cripple America’s recovery. But hey, you got 600 bucks out of it

Did you read this? It doesnt restrict the fed. The fed just cannot extend the existing program it can literally create a new one of a different name however with no problems. Even with changes and improvements.

This modifier makes this "change" toothless and doesnt restrict the fed at ALL going forward. All it makes them do is name the new shyt something different and change a single detail so its not a 100% copy.

That defeated the whole ass purpose of what they were trying to do. This is the Republicans caving, and getting NOTHING they wanted. Literally nothing except lowering the amount of the stim checks and UI money. But they lost on everything else. So yeah, this is worth it, especially as a freebie before Biden takes office and does more.

Biden can’t “do more” unless they win the senate. So they rescinded 450 billion of previously appropriated relief funds, got them to lower unemployment to ten weeks at half the amount, and cut stimulus checks in half. What exactly did the Dems win? Dragged it out all this time for that? Could have agreed to that in august

They blew the senate when they fukked off winnable seats like Maine. A split in Georgia would have been feasible. A sweep is like Florida beating Alabama today. Possible, but highly unlikely

nikka we are talking about the fed. And Bidens control of the Senate has NOTHING to do with the Stimulus bill passing or not. :dahell:

The Senate situation is completely separate from the stim bill so why are you acting like the passing of this specific bill CREATED this situation we see in the senate? :dead:

You basically said nothing in your post. This Bill gives people more than they had yesterday while costing NOTHING negative that wasnt already there. Period.

Its not rocket science.

And why do yall keep talking about the phantom shyt from 4 months ago that was all talk and never even made it to the floor for a vote? Im starting to think yall just read news headlines and dont really deep dive this stuff. The 1.9 trillion bill NEVER SAW THE FLOOR. Yall out here wishing on ducktales.
