The sonic universe has produced family friendly characters that have aura. What is the nintendo equivalent?

F-Zero has Captain Falcon but he hasn't really broken into the mainstream the way that someone like Shadow or Knuckles did.

I'd say samus but she's for an older demographic. They don't really seem to have many "cool" characters that appeal to younger audiences.

^ I agree with mewtwo but the rest are constrained by how cutesy the artstyle is for their respective games.

And NONE of bowser's kids have aura come on man.

Two other options that have just come to mind are the characters from arms like cobra and twintelle

inklings are kind of cool

And some of the pokemon gym leaders look cool, but there are too many of them for any to really stand out and break through into mainstream culture.

the squirtle squad with the fire kimonos look dope, but thats just not nintendos lane.

Fox is another one but other than him I'm genuinely stumped on any sort of cool family friendly characters that come from a universe where their artstyle can allow it.

As a kid at the time of Sonic VS Mario, Sonic’s “coolness” was why i chose him over Mario.

I remember thinking about how cool it was that he had on red sneakers and could run fast through loop de loops. Then when the cartoon came out you couldn’t tell me nothing

Mario was comparatively kinda stale at the time in my eyes. My Grandma was a Mario stan. It seemed technical and kinda bland to me.


Now as an adult i aknowledge Mario is was and has been the better “game” franchise. But man they did a great job with the sonic character

On one hand the Sonic fan base are one of the most creative fandoms with dozens of fan games that damn near replicate the the OG Genesis games and have even gone as far as (attempting) to fix Sonic 06. Not to mention they made a Sonic game so good Sega got jealous and canceled the sequel.


On the other hand…Sonic birthed Chris Chan.
