The south making it a thing to let everyone know they don’t listen to jay Z is forced and corny

Can't have a inferiority complex without a superiority complex :comeon:
NY spent 20+ years gatekeeping the culture via labels and media. I don't blame the other regions from establishing their own goats and having resentment at narratives that STILL permeate the genre now like it's just universal
If not giving a fukk about Jay-Z or Chuck D or whoever is their truth then it is what it is
how can you not give a fukk about chuck d...he is a pioneer.....and what are you talking about gatekeeping...why arent there any labels or publications in the south then?....im confused.

You can tell dudes in the south talking about Nas never listened to Nas music otherwise how the fukk would they not realize he’s from the projects?

Exactly. They were offended by Nas naming his album Hip Hop Is Dead, caught feelings, and made that stupid statement. They had 3-4 hits and might've went gold, but were gone shortly after Hip Hop Is Dead dropped.

It’s the funniest thing. Other NYC rappers have said worse about JayZ. And the Jayz slander by southerners is usually preceded by Nas love or 50 cent love. It has nothing to do with some NYC hate or inferiority complex. Again, JayZs fellow New Yorkers have said worse shyt. The intra New York City beef gets talked about in the form of Jay vs Nas, yet in every one of these “The south just bitter!!” Threads, that little tidbit about NY rappers hating each other gets ignored. New Yorkers themselves don’t even see Jay as their goat. But southerners are “haters” because some don’t view Jay that way neither? :dead:

And OP was absolutely wrong about E40. At least on the internet, east coasters have gone out of their way to say shyt like “Anytime E40 or Bay Area music vids came on TV, I’d change the channel”. E40 got hated on by Biggie and others from the Eastcoast. For no reason. :dead:

Nah he didn’t stop at Jay he turned it into a Atlanta VS NYC artists interview

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
They didn't go after Pac until he started naming names. You know this.
No way. Lol. For one. Pac named Biggie as issue and mad NY nikkas ganged up on Pac and was sneak dissing him at shows n all that. Once he ranted about the west coast it got even worse. "When the east is in the house oh my god.."

Funny shyt is Jeezy revealed that Nas was one of the rappers who showed him mad love on some humble shyt when he met him in Atlanta when he was on the come up. And that's BEFORE he dissed him on the radio. nikkas just be feeling like Nas an easy target cause he don't be saying shyt back.
Yeah they had such a wrong impression on Nas.

It’s like there shocked that he’s from the projects and has ties with some extremely powerful street dudes

If they listened to any of his music they would have known

Ok do he dissed him and took it back. Just like alotta nikkas when it comes to Nas. Damn near everyone who has dissed Nas has done that. Lol

An apology immediately after by a drug addict far away and a few a decade later by envious nikkas from your own city are not equivalent. Also, saying a dude don't get money is not in the same ballpark of disrespect as what New Yorkers cosigned from their own rappers.

To most folks in the south, Jay just seemed elitist and not very relatable in the sense of being an everyday person, which is how we tend to like our artists down here. I think when looking at how he branded himself, he came out with an air of "you should aspire to be me, even though you'll never ascend to these heights"

I love his music but I do think his brand gave his legacy it's legs.

I even thought about the shyt he said about NY not giving a fukk or appreciating Nas until he got money outside of rap. Which I feel is more true for the South as well. I remember Gucci Mane randomly shytting on Nas acting like he was broke. And all them times nikkas would say. "Only nikkas in New York fukk wit Nas..". Most disrespect I've ever seen against Nas has been from South nikkas.

You gotta remember, they were triggered by what they thought was a reference to them (HipHop Is Dead). I remember Luda even felt some type of way about that and him and Nas were tight as fuk.
