People keeps posting this but again, why would they buy this if they already have hardware as powerful?
Also Steam users are PC users, this thing beats the purpose of being a PC Gamer.
uh, "specs are close to, or better than, 70% of Steam users" means the majority of Steam users don't have hardware as powerful. there's a lot of people out there on ancient desktops or whatever laptop. would all them be interested in upgrading to this set-top ox? no, but even a small percentage of those people represents a lot of people
it's a unique device. the average person is not building something this small. that might not be important to me or you, but it's definitely something other people have wanted for years
it's seems one of Valve's main motivations is just making this 'better than the Steam Deck'. they were surprised how many people were docking their Steam Deck, when it really doesn't have the power to push a full sized display. a lot of those people might have a powerful PC, but they were still plugging the Deck into their TV. this would be a more powerful solution for people doing that. the small form factor also makes it kinda portable. also like the Steam Deck, it's a known spec, so developers can provide recommended settings
point is there's several reasons why someone might want to buy this. there's a lot of PC gamers out there, and if this thing only appeals to 5% of them, that's still a lot of people. there's other implications to Valve getting PC Gaming away from Windows, where you have an OS that's trying to push AI and a bunch of other shyt that really isn't helping gaming. but that's a difficult task, and it's only gonna happen with more people using Steam OS with different hardware configurations. if this device sees some success, it will represent another step in that direction
