It’s a pc though and not a console I don’t know why people keep saying that. Valve has said they are competing with PC pricing not console. A gaming pc under 1000 dollars is considered cheap. So if this launches at 699 that’s considered cheap for a gaming pc.
Everything is a pc technically

It's going to be between $700- $1000. Which is crazy for what you're getting. I know they're shooting for the PC market which is why I laugh at the people that think this is going to compete or siphon off console gamers. It's specs are similar to a PS5 but that's more expensive. Plus you can get a PS5 pro for a similar cost that will run better especially when the FSR4 update rolls out next year.

This why I see this as a pointless device for that price. Especially for something stationary. If all your going to do is game then a PS5 is the better option because devs will optimize it way better than what they will do on the steam machine. It’s already coming in at obsolete hardware with a 6 core cpu. fukkin laptops are at 8 - 16 cores now. This shyt won’t even be able to run battlefield 6 multiplayer good since that game is very cpu bound he’ll you’ll even struggle with PS3 emulation on this. Like if your getting into pc save your money until you can get a decent rig or just fukk with a PS5.

Yeah I'm curious what their strategy was. They could have just made a steam deck 2 and called it a day. but apparently a majority of steam deck users have a rig that's weaker than this. So it will get them up to speed with the current gen. That's why I don't wanna hear the PC master race speak on consoles when alot of them are still out here on 1070s talking about their gaming at 4k:mjlol:

But that’s the thing pc can go a long a way 1070 is a ps4 pro level gpu and it still can get decent performance at 1080p with medium to low settings with ps5 level games. Like if you bought a 1070 7 years ago and are still gaming with it.

That's why PC games are unoptimized and run like crap because it's so many configurations that need to be considered. There needs to be a floor. I think this steam deck will create a nice floor if they get the developers on board to optimize specifically for it. But they have to move alot of units to do so

And this is what it is. I think valve is trying to do the same with the steam machine but. But it’s impossible to have a baseline when there’s so . many configurations plus there’s also upscalers like lossless scaling, DLSS and FSR.

The primary customer for this is a current Steam user not a non-Steam casual. People are saying stuff like Valve goal isn't to sell hardware in this thread when it's absolutely to sell hardware. This is not a threat to Nintendo or Sony. It may be a threat to Xbox but that platform is already in shambles.
:mjlol:You're just a fan my nikka, nothing you stated is hitting. You claimed it was worth it to buy a Playstation for 2 games. Hardcore Steam users have PC, genius. This is exactly the product for a non-Steam casual.

:russ:As far as XBOX in shambles you're wrong again. Expedition 33 is considered the easy GOTY and is already in the GOAT RPG conversation. 95% of the player base discovered it on XBOX. The top selling games of all time (COD, Skyrim, Fallout, Minecraft) are all owned by Microsoft. Sony doesn't own a single game on the top selling game of all-time list.

:mjlol:Microsoft been better than Sony. Once Sony lost exclusive rights to Square-Enix it was game over.

You're talking about the same M$ that's selling their exclusives on Sony because their consumer base isn't purchasing games... Expedition 33 isn't a Xbox title. They just paid a bag for it to be on there. Even then it sold more on PS.... Then to list COD, Skyrim, Fallout when those acquisitions are the reason M$ is in the position its in. Even then All of those franchises still sold more on Sony:what:

:russ:You make more money "renting" a product out than selling it outright. Business 101.

Expedition 33 isn't a Xbox title. They just paid a bag for it to be on there.
:russ:Doesn't matter, more people played it on XBOX, and it's considered in the GOAT tier. So how can XBOX be struggling when they are literally the catalyst behind the GOTY.

Even then it sold more on PS.... Then to list COD, Skyrim, Fallout when those acquisitions are the reason M$ is in the position its in. Even then All of those franchises still sold more on Sony:what:
:russ:That's semantics because PS can't license out Microsoft IP's, so they win in sales by default. Sony gets a cut, but Microsoft makes majority of the money on all their IP's, no matter the platform they sell it on.

:mjlol:And like I stated, Sony has ZERO ATG sellers. That's a fact. So how are they fukking with XBOX when it owns the IP to half the list? Nintendo has the other half, so the real race is between Nintendo and XBOX. Everything else is just fan talk and not based on any actual fact.

:mjlol:Once XBOX was able to get a deal with Sega and Square-Enix to sell their games on Microsoft eco-system, Sony lost the race. You got lame nikkas naming Ghost of Yotei as a counter.
