That it's a terrible machine to release in 2026 that's essentially the same specs if not weaker than current gen. If they released it in 2024. I would understand and it would make sense. The next gen of consoles should be releasing a year later which will blow it out of the water. People that are primarily steam players either have a rig that's already more powerful than this. If they don't why would they buy this when you can't even upgrade the internals? So this machine was made to lure console players to Steam. But why buy it if your games are going to look the same if not worse on some games because it's unoptimized for PC. People are not jumping ship so easily these days. With digital games and backwards compatibility it's even harder since people are locked into their library of backlog games. That's what I meant by who are they trying to attract with this machine?

This is where fsr and upscaling come into play.

I'll almost guarantee the Steam Machine is gonna sell out the moment pre-orders open up

I don’t think so. You can’t get these machines anywhere but the steam store also this is not the steam deck it’s a stationary pc which people that are in to pc already have rigs and laptops for that.

This isn’t going to be sold at retailers where casuals would normally buy

the limited availability is part of why I think they'll go quick

time will tell

This will depend on the price. I don’t see casuals jumping to and the PC enthusiasts already have stationary pc’s that have better hardware. This is much different than the deck because it doesn’t have the versatility and portability that would attract both the Enthusiasts and Casuals.

That's the thing though. People are already building similar machines with the specs and it's not hitting 4k/60 even with far

The same thing will happen with this especially since this is running off a 6 core cpu. Good luck running battlefield 6 muliplayer on this at 4K60. The only thing is guaranteed at running the 4k60 is indie games forget about modern triple A.

Since it's Linux based it won't be able to play Battlefield or COD since those anti cheat software they implement in their games don't support Linux

Ok and they have the steam deck to do that. You can even dock it to the tv. It’s a certified flop at the price and this is stationary.

I mean you can always put windows on it since it’s still a pc.

Yep, if the rumors of next gen starting in 2027 this thing is already outdated.

Thats why I said this is pretty much for the Steam fanboys that only play Forntnite and Warzone and the hardcores that just buy everything cuz they have money but no children.
