What else could they use to promote individual services?
convenience and value. but at some point the market becomes too convoluted for consumers. and they have to realize that their true 'competition' is piracy. instead of trying to cut each other's throat, they should be unified in an effort to find a way to get people to actually pay for music

Doesn't get more convenient and cheaper than it is. I understand the problem, I just can't think of a solution other than there only be one streaming service, and I don't think that will happen.

I don't know what the solution is either. but all these "me too" services end up being less convenient for the consumer

LOL @ some of you saying you pirate because you don't like streaming when you can still buy the music you want
I don't pirate music like that, just beats every now and then, but the point of your OP was actually that some people wont actually be able to get the music they want unless they sign up for a service. Thats whack.

Are there albums that are only available through one streaming service? You can't buy the mp3s or a CD?

And even if there are, most people pirating are doing it because they don't want to pay, it's easy, and they probably won't be caught. They're not just pirating albums exclusive to a streaming service they don't have.

At the end of the day pirating is illegal. So it's silly that these guys keep championing this "I don't pay for sh!t" rhetoric like they don't understand why anyone would pay for music. Uh...Because that's the legal way of acquiring it? Streaming platforms have made a legal convenient avenue for normal people to listen to music. Not for weirdo basement dwelling hackers who use the internet as a means to cover for them being broke bums.
