There's a lot of street rappers around... (Alley Boy, Chief Keef, Freddie Gibbs, Gucci Mane, etc) they're just operating on a smaller level because the masses don't want to hear that shyt...

The Mid-2000's saw a return of more rugged music but after 2008 we're living in a Post-Recession world where songs like "Blurred Lines" & "Thrift Shop" go #1 on Billboard because people need music/entertainment as an escape right now... not a reminder of reality... that's why non-aggressive & fun music is killing the charts right now. People would rather be in the club having fun trying to party away a long stressful week then hear about people getting shot, killed, selling drugs, warring over sets, the realities of a harsh life, etc...

Mainstream wise I agree that it's only really Nas. In general though I feel there's artists still around the streets fukk with, on different levels but people like Cormega, Lake, K Rino, Raekwon, Immortal Technique, AZ, Styles P, Jadakiss. I know a lot of people who fukk with Styles hard.

Probably the best person I heard talk about street issues currently is K-Rino, the artist can only do so much though, people got to support.

Meek a real street nikka but he too hot headed to be a real leader. We need somebody like an OG Beanie Siegel that can also appeal to the mainstream without losing his credibility.

 Beans is a 3 time loser

anybody that appreciates leadership from him is a gotdayum fool :pachaha:

:ld: I never really thought about it in terms of pre/post recession, while I don't think that's the only thing that made music "softer" that's a good point
