I’m looking at this Hornets draft day trade of the 13th pick. They traded it to get the Nuggets 1st next year which is likely to be like 10 spots after 13, and a handful of 2nd round picks that they’ll probably end up unloading half of them down the line

can anyone make sense of that trade? I didn’t realize how awful it was until now because it had so many moving parts

also if Duren outperforms Mark Williams significantly it will haunt them for a long time

They probably didn't see 2 players they liked at those spots so more of a money move
Don't need to take on another first round salary until next year which is a deeper draft

Free agency is gonna be as bad as everyone thought it would be.

I can't possibly see a team trying to create cap space to sign Ayton, so Ayton might have to wait til next offseason where he can pick his destination without restriction.

Spurs can just outright offer him a max, which they should be doing. Ayton is restricted but Phoenix doesn't have control of setting the market for him.
