That’s crazy they decided to use their cap space on absolutely nothing … maybe there’s something they’re eyeing next year

Fred Van Fleet was criticized a bit …ironically that was another undersized guard the Knicks were ready to drop a bag on
I mean they didn’t have to offer max salaries to leverage their salary cap space… and the thing with conserving your space is tht you open yourself up to cap competition in future years …they were one of the only teams to could absorb big contracts on the open market or in a S&T and they kind of did nothing …not saying it’s a wrong play but it’ll be interesting to observe over these next few yearsYeah, their plan is to make a real playoff push in 2023. Looks like they're counting on internal growth of the youth and the talent upgrade from this draft to see what they've got first. I'm totally onboard with that. See what you got in the young guys first before hitching your wagon to a max salary. I was ok with pursuing Ayton because the prospect of him growing with Cade was intriguing, but honestly there is no need to rush it. Both the Knicks players have team options next year, so Detroit can still have a nice grip of cap space next summer to play with too.
Pretty muchI was thinking Rozier but it's not like the Hornets are out here making the playoffs so that's not the answer. VanVleet is that kind of player where if the Raptors resign him to a near Max, it's a win. If the Knicks had signed him, it's what the hell are they doing?
Suns basically bidding against themselves. Do I think Ayton is worth the max? Yea I do he was great in the playoff run against Jokic and Davis, made them work on both ends. But when you're at the bidding table you should have some awards to justify your pay. This man has no All nba teams, no all stars, no all defensive teams. I think that hurts him a little bit.Damn what's the market for Ayton now![]()
Two words: qualifying offer.Suns basically bidding against themselves. Do I think Ayton is worth the max? Suns don’t have to bid at all, they can let Ayton sign an offer sheet and match. with Detroit out it will be interesting to see who is willing to max him. what teams have the capspace - Pistons & Spurs? The Ayton situation is probably the most interesting piece of free agency right now. Kyrie is back. Zach and Beal will sign maxes to stay in Chicago/Washington. Jalen Brunson is accounted for. I’m sure there are other FAs and the Hawks seem dead set on making a big move. The smoke has died down with the Jazz, curious to see how they move forward with Rudy & MitchellSuns basically bidding against themselves. Do I think Ayton is worth the max? Free agency is gonna be as bad as everyone thought it would be.Suns don’t have to bid at all, they can let Ayton sign an offer sheet and match. with Detroit out it will be interesting to see who is willing to max him. what teams have the capspace - Pistons & Spurs? The picks that got dealt felt like they went on clearance.I’m looking at this Hornets draft day trade of the 13th pick. They traded it to get the Nuggets 1st next year which is likely to be like 10 spots after 13, and a handful of 2nd round picks that they’ll probably end up unloading half of them down the line
can anyone make sense of that trade? I didn’t realize how awful it was until now because it had so many moving parts
also if Duren outperforms Mark Williams significantly it will haunt them for a long time
I am a big Williams fan as well, it’s less about Duren being passed on and why the hell they chose to give away 13 for presumably 20-25 next draft. Having a hard time understanding the rationale there. The picks that got dealt felt like they went on clearance.
That said, Mark Williams is gonna be a problem.
