Do tell... :lupe:

Well, long story short, I think we need to focus on the processes and mechanisms by which the "oppressors" oppress, not the actors themselves.
When we engage in the class warfare the way we do, we invite a change of cast, not the change of script we so desperately need.

Economic mobility is the name of the game, and I think it can be tackled without vilifying anyone. :manny:

If we live in a world with scarce resources, and the means of production are privately owned and ownership and wealth are highly concentrated, there's going to be substantial inequality and brutal exploitation...

negative, IMO the rest of the world just caught up, and began to compete. The majority of the economic sectors in America were not prepared for international competition, and I think many federal regulations reflect that.

I disagree

It's very obvious what's been going on since 1980

Yea I agree it is real. So do we end it and come up with methods that everyone can use to climb or ignore that some parts of the game are allllll the way fukked up? I like scrutiny. I think I have a lot to learn from you, and in life. You're a GOAT poster IMO.

I personally don't want the problems associated with the highest level of income, nor do I want to see the people around me change because they're looking at me like a bank. But there is a comfortable level of income I'd like to reach on the very very humble and quiet tip. I'm wondering how to topple some of these publishing heirs so I can write and disseminate my books in a way that doesn't mainly profit them (because they didn't make the product). Any ideas?
I got a great idea for you get the fukk off this website and find shyt relevant to what your trying to do. Its more productive that way. Also if you get more bread than those in your circle that's likely what will happen but you rather stay normal just because of that? That shyt around stupid and also like cowardice even though I know you'll disagree. Get there first and figure the rest out later.

Oh there has definitely been lots of f*ckery, but the global game changed drastically, and IMO had a much more profound effect than anything Reagan did :manny:
The world has changed

Our economy is so much bigger

Wealth is very plentiful

But the establishment basically made the decision to do what was done in the 80s till now

"The central point that emerges from our research is that economic elites and organized groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on U.S. government policy," they write, "while mass-based interest groups and average citizens have little or no independent influence."

As one illustration, Gilens and Page compare the political preferences of Americans at the 50th income percentile to preferences of Americans at the 90th percentile as well as major lobbying or business groups. They find that the government—whether Republican or Democratic—more often follows the preferences of the latter group rather than the first.

The researches note that this is not a new development caused by, say, recent Supreme Court decisions allowing more money in politics, such as Citizens United or this month's ruling on McCutcheon v. FEC. As the data stretching back to the 1980s suggests, this has been a long term trend, and is therefore harder for most people to perceive, let alone reverse.

"Ordinary citizens," they write, "might often be observed to 'win' (that is, to get their preferred policy outcomes) even if they had no independent effect whatsoever on policy making, if elites (with whom they often agree) actually prevail."
