Run DMC were like the first stars of Hip Hop. Those cats were like Rock stars to the hood.

My favorite duo is EPMD but EPMD did take the blueprint from Run DMC and do their own thing. But if it wasn't for Run DMC there'd be no EPMD as well as the many other duos that have followed. Run DMC were trailblazers.

Oh yeah, one of my favorite songs by them is "Beats to the Rhyme". This song is so great because of their back and forth call and response and that beat, that beat is by far one of the best beats I've ever heard:
