Of all the people in music to manipulate, weird he targeted Guru of all people. Was there that much $ potential there?
Guru gets written off as a basic emcee because as his career progressed his style became more basic and aggressive sounding. Knowing now he was dealing with heavy alcoholism, that could have been a byproduct. But he was spitting multi-syllabic raps in a smooth conversational tone back in 1989. I never heard anyone suggest Primo was carrying him until "Hard to Earn".
his voice wasn't a problem, it was actually what made people like him so much.GURU's ONLY problem was his voice. It's a problem i had... But Premier being the musician he was made beats where his voice stood out, it wasnt that he carried him. He found out what made them blend together.
even he made a reference to his monotone "style" ... i mean it wasnt a "problem", it made him standout but it wasnt animated and it could be hard for some to detect the emotionhis voice wasn't a problem, it was actually what made people like him so much.

I was only trying to answer in the context of preemo carrying guru ... that would be the only thing I would say people would use as an arguemtn for Preemo carrying GuruI guess we have a different definition of the word “problem”
